London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is all set to host its second NFL game for this season. But the Week 6 showdown between the New York Jets and the Denver Broncos will be a challenge for both teams. The latest injury reports are here, and there’s a mixed bag of updates for Jets quarterback Justin Fields and Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.

Watch What’s Trending Now!

As Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had noted recently, two stars have been designated ‘out’ for the game: veteran wideout Allen Lazard and cornerback Michael Carter II. Lazard’s out with an unspecified personal matter, while Carter remains on the concussion protocol after his Week 4 injury.

With Lazard out, Garrett Wilson, Josh Reynolds, Arian Smith, and Tyler Johnson take up the wide receiver pressure. Lazard hasn’t quite made a splash this season yet; he just has 24 receiving yards and a touchdown to his name. Still, without his veteran presence to hold down the room, practice squad wideout Isiah Williams could be a game-day elevation.

Carter, meanwhile, had been battered and bruised multiple times through the first five weeks already. Now, the team will look to Jarvis Brownlee Jr. to take up the slot corner. Brownlee had already filled in for Carter after his Week 4 exit, and now has a chance to snatch some of that international spotlight. While the Jets face two major absences, there are also a few other question marks.

Linebacker Ja’Markis Weston is reeling from a groin injury, and cornerback Brandon Stephens is dealing with a neck injury. Both are deemed ‘questionable’ for the London game at this point, but could be back on the field if they’re back in shape. Apart from this, there are some positive updates for Aaron Glenn’s squad as well.

Staring quarterback Justin Fields had been dealing with a knee issue, but he’ll take the lead under center on Sunday. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams is also back from his groin injury. Aaron Glenn had noted in a recent presser that DE Jermaine Johnson II (ankle) and RB Rene Nwangu (hamstring) were “day-to-day” with their injuries. But following Glenn’s optimism, both players have returned to action.

Two out, two questionable, and four stars returning. That’s the roster landscape for the Jets ahead of Week 6 as they still search for their first win of the season. As for the Broncos, they’re dealing with their own struggles with injuries.

Bo Nix’s Week 6 troubles

Going 3-2 into Week 6, the Broncos have secured the 1st spot in the AFC West. But their Week 6 matchup will have starting quarterback Bo Nix’s protection stretched thin. Linebacker Jonah Elliss is designated ‘out’ with a rib/shoulder injury. Along with Elliss, offensive lineman Ben Powers has also been ruled out for Week 6 with a biceps injury he suffered in Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Without Elliss, a spot opens up in the pass rush rotation behind Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper. Dondrea Tillman and rookie Que Robinson could be the next men up in this scenario. As for Powers, he may be en route to the injury reserve now. If that’s the case, defensive tackle Malcolm Roach could return from IR to fill the spot.

Malcolm was the only player designated as ‘questionable’ by head coach Sean Payton. But he was notably a full participant in practice on Thursday (Oct. 9) and Friday, so he might just be a game-day activation. In the meantime, 4 players have returned from injuries to strengthen Denver’s arsenal.

Linebacker Nik Bonitto was suffering from a wrist injury. Defensive tackle DJ Jones and RB Tyler Badie were both dealing with shoulder issues. Linebacker Alex Singleton, meanwhile, had a thumb injury. All four players now look ready to suit up against the Jets in London.

Will the Jets juggle injuries and find their first victory of the season at last? Or will the Broncos turn their two-game win streak into three? For now, we wait for the first whistle and find out from there…
