The Ravens vs Bills divisional game has culminated in a 27-25 Bills victory. Josh Allen and Co. will now fight the Kansas City Chiefs and their own demons for the conference title. It’s the ultimate test for Josh Allen and the Bills. It’s their ‘final boss’, even if it’s not the Super Bowl. Their upcoming rivals have sent them packing from the post-season in three of the past four seasons. It’s an immovable object that the Bills haven’t become unstoppable enough to overcome. But the now-frontrunner for MVP is playing it cool.

When asked about the conference championship against the Chiefs, Josh Allen said, “Do whatever it takes to get a win. That’s all that matters. [Will] turn our attention towards them tomorrow.” Few words, but he must have a lot on his mind. He has never defeated the Chiefs in the playoffs. The closest he has come was in that thrilling 2022 OT loss, also in the AFC championship game. He must have revenge on his mind, even if not on his lips.

If we look at the playoff history of the Bills vs Chiefs, the record favors the Chiefs 2-4. The Bills defeated the Chiefs in the ’91 and ’93 seasons, amid their streak of 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses. But since then, and in Patrick Mahomes‘ era, they have only taken Ls. Three times in four years, in fact. On January 24, 2021, the Bills lost to Mahomes and Co. 24-38 in the AFC Championship game. Next year, they were kicked out 36-42 in the divisional round despite a spirited performance. Last year, they got a little closer. Once again in the divisional round, they lost by just 3 points despite entering the 4th quarter in the lead and then missing a 54-yard FG attempt.

But Allen might have a little something different in his arsenal this time. Love. Maybe his fiance, Hailee Steinfeld‘s influence will finally help push the Bills over the hump. As Allen’s teammate Dion Dawkins said, “There’s something about the Bills different this year. It’s drastically different, our quarterback is engaged. It’s drastically different, there’s love in the air, man”. It would be considerable revenge for Allen to stop Patrick Mahomes from getting into the Super Bowl and having a shot at the 3-peat.

But, apart from his diplomatic replies about their upcoming rivals, Allen also admitted his shortcomings in the divisional game.

Josh Allen admitted miscues in the divisional showdown

Allen pointed out some shortcomings of the Ravens’ game. The top MVP contender said, “You know, missed a couple of throws. Wish I had ’em back.” Allen made 22 passing attempts but could complete only 16, that is with 72.7 CMP% for 127 yards. In addition to that, he was sacked one time. Besides this, Josh Allen’s two touchdown rushes in 2nd quarter changed the game. The first rush was a 1-yard touchdown when the Bills were leading by 7. And his 4-yard TD to take a 21-10 lead into halftime proved invaluable in the end.

But the three-time Pro Bowl-er also took the time to appreciate his defense. The way they took advantage of the Ravens’ offensive mistakes was important. “A lot of pride in that locker room. We don’t listen to the outside noise,” Allen added. “Everyone was saying this and that about us. Our guys continue to work hard. We are internally driven.”

The Bills are now just one game away from ending their Super Bowl drought and possibly going one step higher. The Buffalo mafia is now excited to see if Josh Allen can march ahead and bring the Lombardi to the city.
