The New York Jets are having one of the worst seasons. After today’s game against the Denver Broncos (11-13), their stats just got worse. They now have six straight losses. QB Justin Fields gave a very poor performance. And after back-to-back setbacks, Fields went on to take the blame.

During the postgame interview, the 26-year-old discussed what went wrong for the Jets. He went on to mention that the passing game wasn’t good today, and “that starts with him”. Owning up to his mistakes, he talked about the three things which he did wrong- not being able to reach the red zone, slow throws, and not being able to get the TD passes when they are close.

“I got to get the ball out…it wasn’t good enough…”He admitted. Justin Fields looked promising when he signed the two-year, $40 million deal with the Jets, and he even looked like a franchise quarterback. But after how he has performed against the Broncos, there are fewer chances that anyone would consider him to be a long-term option for the Jets.

In today’s game, Fields barely completed any passes, just nine of 17. To top it off, the QB got sacked nine times for 55 yards. It took the net passing yards for the Jets to -10. This is the worst NFL figure since 1998. Anyone who watched the game could see that Fields held onto the ball for too long. This is a familiar issue, given his inconsistency as a passer during his stint with the Bears.

Before the game against the Broncos, Fields was at the top of the ranking with an 3.27 seconds of average time to throw. Now, after today’s game, that average time to throw must have increased. Additionally, seven out of his ten sacks this season happened when he held onto the ball for longer than 2.5 seconds. But Fields doesn’t believe in stats.

When he was told that he had the longest time to throw in the NFL 2025 season, he said,

“I don’t really look at stats if I’m being honest with you”. Whether Field keeps tabs on the stats or not, his style of play has contributed to the Jets’ 0-6 journey this season. Offensively, the team didn’t capitalize on opportunities and struggled to find a rhythm, according to analysts.

With both the offensive struggles and Fields’ poor play continuing in Week 6 of the season, it’s obvious to witness some frustration on the gridiron.

Jets players aren’t happy with the decision-making

It’s not the 6 straight losses that are concerning for the Jets; it’s also about the awful game that took the Jets down.

At 4th and 1, the Jets had some time left in the game to assemble into field-goal position to keep the momentum going. But what did they do? Almost nothing, and they just watched the clock mark the end of the first half. The one player who seemed unhappy with the Jets’ slow or nonexistent response was wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

He was annoyed by the decision not to act quickly. As the crowd was shouting, the WR was seen walking away from the line of scrimmage. But before getting back to the locker room, he was seen exchanging some words with HC Aaron Glenn. Later, during the postgame press conference, Glenn addressed the media about the incident.

“He is a competitive person, who wouldn’t be pissed when… things not going right”. He didn’t blame Wilson and ended the statement by mentioning that things aren’t going right for the Jets. “You guys know how he is… when things not going right, he get pissed.” If Coach Glenn recognizes that things aren’t going as they should, it’s on him to take action and steer the team back on track.
