“Bears felt that they were doing right by Justin Fields to move him now to get him to his new team now. Despite the fact that the compensation turned out to be lower than some people thought it would be,” said Schefter to ESPN. According to reports, the Bears are getting a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft with this trade.

The compensation does seem low, but it is in line with the philosophy of GM Poles. “If we do go down that road, I want to do right by Justin as well”, promised Poles on Fields’ trade at the NFL Combine one month ago. Now that Poles fulfilled his end of the bargain by doing the right thing, what will Fields’ role be at the Steelers?

The Steelers have the firepower they need

Fields was drafted by the Bears in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. His skills and talents have been unquestionable; however, Fields could not taste success in Chicago. The 2X Pro Bowler thanked the franchise and the fans for their support.

And the young QB has also received much-needed support. From none other than Wilson, since Fields will be playing as the backup QB to the Super Bowl winner for the Steelers. And Wilson is excited about this new development!
