While the Kansas City Chiefs are busy wrapping up their NFL draft moves, the women’s soccer team is scoring some big wins! The National Women’s Soccer League is in full swing, with the K.C. Current securing the top spot after their glorious win over the Angel City FC. And Patrick Mahomes became the latest fan to gush over the team’s winning goals.

Just when it seemed that the Current might break their winning streak, lagging 1-0 behind Angel City, there came a magnificent comeback. After Vanessa DiBernardo leveled the score in the second half, Claire Lavgoez scored two stunning goals, cementing their victory. Her 90th-minute goal was enough to secure their victory, but her second strike three minutes later was just the icing on the cake.

Co-owner of the franchise and three-time MVP shared the cinematic last-minute goals on his Instagram story, celebrating the win. Mahomes shares the ownership of Current with his former soccer player wife, Brittany, and the couple has been active supporters of the sport. Not only are they often spotted cheering the team in its pursuits, but they also helped show it in action. They, along with the ownership group, helped establish the first dedicated women’s professional sports stadium in the world, the CPKC stadium.

The Canadian Pacific Kansas City stadium boasts a capacity of 11,500 and is worth almost $117 million. Future development plans include a surrounding public space worth $800 million to host apartments, food festivals, live music, and movie nights. With an aim to boost women athletes, the KC Current’s efforts are already bearing fruit, with the NWSL tickets sold out months in advance. And with women’s soccer reviving in Kansas City, the Mahomes couple has another hidden move to give it the extra push it needs: hosting Brittany’s mega-popular friend at the venue!

Patrick Mahomes plans to get Taylor Swift to a KC Current game

Last month, the NFL couple attended their home team’s game against the Portland Thorns in the much-hyped CPKC stadium. While celebrating Current’s 5-4 win, Mahomes hinted at inviting the newest romance of the league for a game. As Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are both quite busy in their professional lives, the quarterback cited his wife’s help to get the pop star.

“We might get her here at some point, she’s a busy woman and Travis is a busy guy,” said Mahomes. “So, maybe during season or something like that we’ll get her out to a Kansas City Current game. She loves supporting Kansas City just like we do and I’m sure Brittany can nudge her and get her here pretty easily.”
