Kansas City Shooting: Marquez Valdes-Scantling “Would Love to Help” Devastated Children Post Super Bowl Parade Disaster

The Kansas City Parade shooting incident has left everyone, including the football community, shocked. The misfortune ended up claiming the life of the Kansas City Fire Department Chief Ross Grundyson. About 22 others were also potentially injured, with many of them bearing gunshot wounds. It was later reported by James Palmer that about a dozen injured people were children, who were all being treated at the local Children’s Mercy Hospital.

In the wake of this tragedy, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs decided to address the incident on their social media handles. Other players from the team were quick to join in with their prayers as well. The incident also reached Marquez Valdez-Scantling, who seemed devasted by the news and offered to help the families of the victims in “recovery.”

The Chiefs WR just posted on X regarding the horrifying incident that took place, remarking how he wishes to get in contact with the families affected by the event. His post on X said, “Any chance anyone can help me get in touch with these kids or families? First off, I want to make sure they’re doing ok. But would love to help them out any way I can and get them some stuff from the team to help with the recovery.”

His condolences were in response to James Palmer’s update on the situation. which read, “Children’s Mercy is treating 12 patients from the rally. 11 are children. 9 have gunshot wounds, per Lisa Augustine, Senior Manager, Media Relations Children’s Mercy Kansas City. I’m at a loss for words.”

A report from CNN suggests that at least 22 people have been injured in the violent incident. The police are still trying to confirm the number of victims who were caught in the unfortunate series of events overall. The source also suggests that the Kansas City Chiefs are actively involved in aiding the local authorities. Some of the Chiefs’ players have also come out to address the situation, paying their regards and sending prayers to the victims of the horrendous mass shooting.

Drue Tranquill, the Chiefs LB wrote on X,” Please join me in prayer for all the victims in this heinous act. Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing.” His words reflect the response of many others from the NFL community, who extended similar thoughts and prayers for the casualties and expressed their disturbance from the disgraceful action.

The Guard, Trey Smith also offered his condolences and came forward to thank the first responders, “My thoughts and prayers🙏🏾 are with everyone affected by today’s incidents—a huge thank you to the first responders who ran towards the sound of danger. You’re the ones who should be celebrated today.”

While the details concerning the incident are still pouring in, the KCPD is giving out constant updates regarding the same. It was conveyed from their end that all Cheifs players, coaches, and members had exited the scene safely before the incident occured.
