The Eagles vs. the Cowboys game was a big one for Kenny Pickett. Why? To prove the doubters wrong. Most importantly, he wanted to prove to himself that he’s still got it. And he did impress Terry Bradshaw, to say the least. Imagine watching FOX’s pregame show, and Bradshaw is talking about his former team. Not just any talk—this was an epic, “you should have never done that” moment.

Bradshaw went all in on the Steelers’ decision to let go of Kenny Pickett, and now, Eagles CB Darius Slay has acknowledged that chant by crediting Kenny for the D-line’s improvement. Slay gave Pickett some pregame flowers, calling him a serious weapon. “He has been throwing amazing dots,” Slay said, ahead of the ‘next-in-line’ man under center’s first start of the season. He also added, “CB Darius Slay has been victimized by QB Kenny Pickett in practice this year and is expecting the #Cowboys to get a taste of that medicine today.

It started like a promising underdog story. Kenny Pickett, stepping up for the Eagles with Jalen Hurts still sidelined, had his shot to lead against the Cowboys. But then—just when it seemed like he might write his redemption arc—Micah Parsons happened. This left the Eagles to dig even deeper into their QB depth chart. Tough break, right?

Before the injury, Pickett was doing exactly what was needed—keeping it simple and effective with a TD in 143 yards. A solid throw here, a poised handoff there, and Voila! The Eagles’ offense stayed on track. Until a holding penalty wiped away his touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith. Classic! Just as it seemed he’d get his moment, the flag came flying like a yellow dagger.

Enter Tanner McKee, the Eagles’ third-string QB. Imagine being tossed into the fire against Dallas with zero NFL snaps to your name.  But McKee didn’t just survive; he thrived, tossing a 20-yard touchdown to A.J. Brown to ice the game. Not bad for a sixth-round pick, huh?

Meanwhile, Pickett reappeared on the sideline, sans pads, looking like he was done for the day. The Eagles had already clinched a playoff berth, so risking further injury wasn’t on the playbook. But we can understand this fighter spirit must have impressed Bradshaw to sing praises of Pickett.

Terry Bradshaw not happy with Steelers’ Kenny Pickett decision

He was not looking rusty at all… Bizarre passes, TDs, keeping the offense moving, and no picks! All that despite leaving the gridiron prematurely. So you can see why Bradshaw said that Pittsburgh “should have never gotten rid of Kenny Pickett!”

But that would have been unfair for Pickett because he was never going to get the chance ahead of Justin Fields and Russell Wilson under Mike Tomlin in Pitts. And that’s what one fan commented as well: “No, he’s [Bradshaw] wrong on that. Whether Wilson or even Fields is the question is another matter, but Pickett was a bust and remains a bust…”

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. We all know Bradshaw has a special place in his heart for his Steelers, but this? This is a whole new level. He was calling out the team over Pickett like a quarterback on a hot streak, calling for the ball. But at the same time, this wasn’t new. He’s been backing Pickett for a while, saying the University of Pittsburgh product deserved the starting gig in 2024.

But could Steel City have really seen the writing on the wall that fast? Or was this just a case of Bradshaw sticking it to the man, calling it like he sees it? Either way, it’s clear that the ex-NFLer isn’t going to let it go anytime soon.
