Kirk Cousins Relishes Family Time as Vikings Set Sights on JJ McCarthy as $35M QB’s Replacement

Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles last year and hasn’t been actively participating with the Minnesota Vikings ever since. Why so?
It’s the quarterback’s last year with the Vikings. Moreover, Cousins, whose contract value is $35M, has been spending time relaxing with his family.
Although we can’t be sure that the Vikings won’t sign him again, Cousins doesn’t seem bothered about his NFL career. His focus now is on his family. His wife, Julie Cousins, recently shared some moments on Instagram, and those sights show nothing but a carefree father and a husband.

Kirk Cousins is living it up with his family
It looks like the family flocked to the beach. Julie Cousins’ Instagram Stories show the father, their children, and the dog chilling at the warm sunny beach. While the children are making sandcastles, Kirk Cousins is making his mind up about stepping into the cold water. Julie captioned the story, “Gettin’ his mind right to get in. The water is 34 degrees.”
Her other Stories post shows Cousins finally dipping in the water and floating. He didn’t want to be inside for more than he had to, as he immediately got out after diving. Julie captioned the video, “35-degree water.” That video seems to have been recorded from Cousin’s own Instagram account. While Cousins spends quality time with the family, some questions might lurk in his mind, especially about his future with the Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings not taking any chances with Kirk Cousins
A couple of months ago, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell mentioned that the doors to the Minnesota team will always be open for Cousins. But is that door still open? O’Connell thinks he can work something out with Cousins and that he’s “earned the right to be a free agent.”
The HC also mentioned, “I know Kirk is going to go through a full process. He’s a process guy. And hopefully, we continue to be a strong part in that process, and we figure out a way to keep him a Minnesota Viking.”

However, the Vikings have an 11th overall pick in the upcoming draft and eight more picks from Rounds 2 to 7. With prospects like JJ McCarthy free, the Vikings are closing in on the opportunity. According to some sources, JJ McCarthy has already given an 18-minute interview to the Vikings.
“Everything they talked about wanting out of a QB aligns with what I want. Just being able to get on the board with them, go through their plays, it was special,” said JJ McCarthy to the media. The Vikings are reportedly interested in Michael Penix Jr. as well.
