This is football and things happen in the blink of an eye, be it on-field or off-field affairs. The 49ers have been struggling, marred with injuries. And amidst all this, there are rumors that Kyle Shanahan and the Bay Area team might be willing to move on from each other. That’s an idea that Mike Florio aired recently.

“I feel like Shanahan and the 49ers are getting close to the point where they would benefit mutually from a fresh start,” Florio said on ‘The Rich Eisen Show‘. He added, “If you can get Shanahan and join him at the hip with Caleb Williams, are you kidding me?” But Shanahan’s 38-13 win over the Bears says he’s staying in the Bay Area for a little while.
The media was quick to play into Florio’s narrative and asked coach Shanahan about him possibly getting traded to the Bears in the post-game presser. The answer might break the hearts of the Bears fans. “I don’t want to be any place in the world more than here [San Francisco],” Shanahan said in the post-game.

However, things couldn’t be more different from what the mainstream media says. When the 49ers GM John Lynch heard about the idea, he hilariously dismissed it. Lynch appeared on the KNBR’s Marcus & Murphy show and admitted that he found the discussion to be ‘comical.’
“I found the whole discussion on Kyle rather comical. We have won 4 of the last 5 division championships, and we’ve been to 2 Super Bowls. The standard here is to win Championships, and we’ve fallen short of that and I understand, but we have an excellent head coach, and the fact people are talking about stuff like that, I do find it comical,” Lynch said.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s focus on the non-rumor part of the presser. Shanahan discussed the injuries that the 49ers sustained in the win against the Bears.

Kyle Shanahan discusses the banged-up roster
The 49ers were already marred with offensive injuries and, unfortunately, the roster is quickly going downhill. Shanahan updated the media about the injuries the Niners players suffered throughout the game. The Bay Area team is already short of a couple of running backs since Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason were both on IR and now Isaac Guerendo has joined them.

Per Rob Lowder of the Strick Gold podcast, “Injury updates from Kyle Shanahan: – RB Isaac Guerendo’s foot injury is likely a sprain, X-rays didn’t show anything conclusive- OL Ben Bartch has a high ankle sprain.”

Despite his injury in the fourth quarter, Guerendo had a huge game with 78 yards and two touchdowns. They haven’t revealed the nature of his injury yet. However, they listed him as questionable to play, and he didn’t return. He was replaced by Patrick Taylor, who scored a touchdown with about 5 minutes remaining in the last quarter, adding to the Bears lead.
It’s becoming increasingly harder for the Niners to save this season. The good thing is, they ended the 4 game-loss streak.
