Pompano Beach, Florida, might just have birthed one of the most unlikely yet celebrated ‘brotherhoods.’ Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson and rapper Kodak Black share a bond tighter than a QB and his favorite WR on the gridiron. As the 2024 season looms, Kodak’s latest show of support for his ‘brother’ is nothing short of heartwarming.

On August 4th, a video of Kodak went viral, showing him proudly donning a “Jackson #8” Baltimore jersey. But he didn’t stop there—while continuously smiling, flashing his signature grill, he directed the camera to his leg. Why? “Man, that’s Lamar Jackson. Get that tattoo,” he declared. Sure enough, the rapper had inked Lamar’s no. 8 tattoo onto his left calf. You call this a play worthy of game-winning emotion?! Wait for the next one.

Kodak then flaunted the bracelet Jackson got him. Not just any bracelet, but one with shiny pearls, fitting for an MVP’s best buddy. No, it was not the Friendship Day bracelet! But one decked out with shiny little pearls, fitting for MVP’s best buddy. “He [Lamar] got me this bracelet. I’ll never take this b*tch off. That’s my brother,” the MC said.

This camaraderie isn’t just skin deep; it’s a crossover of football and music, harmonizing like a perfect duet. While not as blockbusters as Taylor Swift and Chiefs’ TE Travis Kelce making headlines, Lamar Jackson and Kodak Black have their own unique rhythm to them. Both hailing from the same birthplace and studying at the same elementary school, they burst onto the scene at 19, creating a trifecta of uncanny coincidences. Talk about a Super Bowl-winning connection off the field!

With such a strong bond, they’ve weathered highs and lows together. And just like a true teammate, Jackson has stood by Kodak with utmost support and respect.

LJ5’s trajectory since his college days with Louisville has been upwards. He became the youngest-ever to be honored with the Heisman Trophy in 2016 at 19 years and 338 days. Meanwhile, Kodak at 19, found success with “Skrt” in 2015. There was not much change for him in 2016, he was still spitting bars. But, sadly, he was put behind them as well. As a teenager, Kodak pled no contest to drug and firearm charges and faced a felony sexual assault charge from South Carolina while in prison. He was sentenced to 120 days.

Amid this, Lamar Jackson rallied support with his famous “Free Kodak” plea. Now, that’s when their bond strengthened even more.
