The Jacksonville Jaguars had a tough night on Monday when their QB Lawrence got injured. During the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Lawrence’s right ankle was accidentally stepped on by Jags tackle, Walker Little, after being sacked on third down by Bengals’ defensive end Trey Hendrikson, causing him visible pain. The injury turned out to be a right high ankle sprain. Although many speculated that this injury could end the season for the QB, his quick recovery tells a different story, making him the ‘Wolverine.’

Pat McAfee wasn’t expecting that!

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence returned to practice on Thursday, but he participated in a limited capacity. This is a positive sign as he works towards playing in the upcoming game against the Browns, despite dealing with a high ankle sprain. This Thursday update shocked Pat McAfee and his co-hosts, as they analyzed his situation. McAfee recalled Derek Carr’s similar kind of situation when he suffered a groin injury in 2020, and everyone was speculating that it might be a season-ending injury.

However, Carr returned after four days, and even after last month’s concussion, he is recovering soon too. Therefore, McAfee drew a similarity between the two QBs, saying about Lawrence, “Much respect. Can’t believe that he’s like Derek Carr’s Wolverine blood.” McAfee mentioned that there were instances when people thought Derek Carr’s football career was finished, but he returned just four days later. He referred to a specific incident on TNF of 2020 when Carr suffered a groin injury, fans believed it was a serious injury, but Carr surprised everyone by bouncing back quickly.

McAfee sees similarities between Lawrence and Carr, because Lawrence quickly returned to practice a couple of days after his ankle injury, just like Carr did in the past.

The Jags QB also chose not to use the medical cart after getting hurt in the game and instead asked for help from the staff to reach the locker room. This brave decision shows Lawrence’s strength and willingness to come back and play against Cleveland.
