Lost in 30k Ton Trash, Jason Kelce’s Super Bowl Ring Made Him Feel Like a ‘Douche’

While Jason Kelce might have left football, his antics remain fresh as ever! The Philadelphia Eagles‘ center recently filmed a live episode of New Heights with brother Travis at Cincinnati, where the brothers had a wild segment, “Lombaby Games.” While it was all fun and games during the shoot, it was only sometime later that the former NFL star realized he had lost his Super Bowl ring!
Audience members dove into a pool of Skyline Chili filled with fake rings in search of the real memorabilia piece. Neither did the players find the ring, nor could the team locate it with metal detectors afterward. While Kelce seems good-humored about the whole situation, the chances of finding the ring under 30k tons of trash in the landfill seem bleak. If it’s any consolation, the 36-year-old had expressed earlier how the rings aren’t the most comfortable pieces of jewelry to wear.
During an appearance on the Green Light podcast back in Feb, Kelce wore his massive white-gold ring from the 2017 Super Bowl. However, the former center had his set of qualms with the luxurious item and expressed that they “aren’t fun to wear.” He felt that wearing the chunky jewelry attracts attention and seems like an act of show-off. “First of all, you feel kind of like a douche, a little bit,” said Kelce. “I feel like when you’re wearing it, it feels like, “Look at me, I won a Super Bowl!”

Apart from the personality the item exudes, Kelce explained how the “big and clunky” ring is simply not a comfortable piece of jewelry to wear daily. Joking that wearing it for the show already gave him a “blister” on his finger, he also revealed the alternative he and his teammates had devised. “They’re not comfortable. So we all decided, along with a couple of other guys on the team, let’s just have Rolexes made commemorating the Super Bowl.”
This wasn’t the only time we saw Kelce wear the lavish watch! The former NFL star wore it at the 2024 Super Bowl while supporting his brother and also during his emotional retirement speech last month.
Kelce’s $50k Rolex watch and Carhatt combo!
The specially customized watch is something only Philadelphia’s favorite athlete can pull off, that too when paired with a pair of flip-flops! The hosts of the podcast also joked about Kelce’s choice of attire, saying, “It [the watch] pairs good with the Carhartt! Is there anybody else in the state of Nevada that has Carhartt and a Rolex on right now?”

They further pointed out how Kelce completed his laidback look with sandals. Poking fun and appreciating his casual style, they declared that nobody other than the 6-time All-Pro could pull off the combination, “Nobody in America!”

Kelce was last seen sporting the gold Rolex when he announced his retirement in March. The now-discontinued model has a green dial and black bezel to symbolize the colors of the Eagles and is estimated to be priced at a resale value of $50,000 as per PageSix. The idea to get customized milestone watches to celebrate their championship win was tight end Brent Celek’s brainchild, and the idea was forwarded by Kelce and the others.
Jason Kelce has been relishing his newfound free time post his retirement to the fullest. Be it participating in Wrestlemania or getting his college degree with Travis, the brothers always have something new up their sleeve!
