2023 didn’t amount to the season that Mac Jones was expecting! He faced backlash for not leading his team to more wins.
Despite going up against one of the NFL’s worst-ranked defenses, Jones failed to impress. He only attained a pair of interceptions in the first half when facing off the Giants in December. This resulted in his benching.

Now with the 2024 offseason trade starting, Jones found his new home in the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. Bidding goodbye to his former team, Jones shared a heartfelt note for Pats’ fans, Robert Kraft, and Bill Belichick.

He continued, “The results may have been there some days and may have not been there others. But I think the important part for me is sticking to that process like I’ve always done, just trying to get back to that but at the same time just knowing my role, knowing where I’m at and just understanding that this is a great spot for me in my hometown.” The Pats traded him to the Jags for a sixth-round pick, and now he’ll compete with C. J. Beathard for the backup QB position behind Trevor Lawrence.
