The Super Bowl was hardly over when the Kansas City Chiefs got another reason for celebration! The wide receiver position has long been the one point of concern in the past season. With the recent arrival of Marquise Brown, it seems that their worries might finally be over.

Ever since the ‘Cheetah’ Tyreek Hill left for Miami, there has been a lack of stability in the wide receiving position in the Chiefs. The former Arizona Cardinals player brings fresh hopes for the franchise. And the love is reciprocated as well! Brown opened up about his decision to join Kansas City despite having multiple options open to him.

The first-round pick of the 2019 Draft had his priorities clear while entering this offseason, the top of which was “winning.” On the Pocket Presence podcast, Brown expressed how he prefers to “be utilized” than getting a lavish cheque. He said, “At the end of the day – no matter how much money you make, you want to ball.”

So, in the end, Kansas City was an easy and only choice for the wide receiver, as expressed by him. ‘Hollywood’ also shared that there was a “long list” of teams who wanted him on the roster, seven on the first day itself! However, the WR wasn’t taken by any of the teams until he spotted the one he was waiting for.

“Yeah, it was a long list, like, my agent sent me -before the like, day open, like, seven teams. But I ain’t really like none of the teams he was sending me. And it was one team on there that I liked, and I was like, yo! Figure that out, how we can do that.” Brown isn’t the only one elated at joining the Chiefs, too. The franchise’s star quarterback has already started working out with his new teammate and expressed his appreciation for the new addition.

Mahomes loves Brown’s “speed

With the official offseason training commenced in Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes is having his own workouts in his offseason home in Texas. Like each year, the quarterback has taken it upon himself and invited receivers for throwing sessions while Reid is holding virtual sessions while the players are away, enjoying their offseason at their homes. The three-time MVP is also taking the extra effort to get familiar with the new members of the Chiefs’ Kingdom, former rugby player Louis Rees-Zammit and ‘Hollywood’ Brown.

Already, the Texas native is impressed by his new offense partner and shared his first impressions of the WR during an online media conference. “You see the speed, I mean, instantly,” Mahomes stated, as per ChiefsWire. He further appreciated Brown’s hardworking attitude and the tendency to “push himself more and more.” Another element that took the star QB by surprise was the former Cardinals player’s route running.

“I think the route routing is what I’ve been pleasantly surprised by,” Mahomes shared. “I mean, just the way he’s able to get in and out of his cuts, he has a good feel for space, and he wants to learn more and more.”

With Marquise Brown on the offense, Mahomes might finally get the constant support he has been missing since Hill’s departure. Already planning to “utilize him [Brown] in different ways,” the Chiefs quarterback has blown the bugle horn for the exciting season to commence soon.
