The Los Angeles Rams currently stand at 6-6, with a 0.500 record. But as they say, it’s never too late in the NFL. Pushing for a playoff spot in 2024, the franchise is making a key change to its special teams roster. With every point having the potential to make or break the game, the Rams decided to bring in fresh blood.
Lucas Havrisik had been called in during Week 8 to replace veteran kicker Brett Maher. Havrisik has missed 2 field goals and an extra point in the previous two games. NFL Insider, Mike Garafolo, first reported the news that a new kicker had been signed by the Rams ahead of their Baltimore Ravens game on Sunday Night Football.

While he has been placed in the practice squad for now, it has been speculated that he could see action with his new team as early as Sunday. Havrisik is on the active roster for now.

Crosby started his NFL career with the Packers and played with them through 16 seasons. He had been selected by the Cheeseheads in the 6th round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for him, his team did not re-sign him during the offseason. He had played 256 consecutive games with his former team and had a record of scoring 24 of 25 kicks within 50 yards in 2022.

Crosby even won the Super Bowl with the Packers in 2011 and holds the franchise’s record for all-time points at 1,918. On Christmas Day, last year, to owner his friend and teammate’s achievements, the Packers released a special video featuring a voiceover by 4x NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers.
A #Packers record many thought would never be broken.

“Finding the words to describe a player like Mason Crosby isn’t always easy,” Rodgers said in the video. “But, for years, we’ve done our best to do it anyway.” The video highlighted the career milestones of Crosby who had scored 390 FGs over the course of 16 seasons. That, by the way, is also a franchise record.
Rodgers also said that he didn’t trust anyone more than Crosby to make a kick in any weather whenever it’s a close game and a do-or-die situation. Will he continue to perform his best with his new team as he fast approaches the age of 40?
