Matthew Stafford’s new WR Davante Adams is finally in the Los Angeles Rams building, and it already feels different. After bouncing around the league since leaving Green Bay, he’s back where the energy feels right, and you can see it. At 32, he’s still got that spark that lights up a whole offense, as he now fills in the vacant place left by Cooper Kupp. Adams is now on a two-year, $46 million deal. And with OTAs rolling, Sean McVay and the Rams are making an official introduction for the veteran.

On Thursday, Matthew Stafford’s Rams dropped a behind-the-scenes video that showed head coach Sean McVay welcoming Davante Adams to the squad at the offseason meeting. McVay was deep into film study, breaking down Adams’s tape and hyping him up. “Glad to be able to have Davante Adams,” he said. “He’s got a lot of respect. He’s earned it with the way that he works over the course of his career. But it’s always good to be able to see some of the cool guys that put on tape.” No doubts about that.

Adams sat there at the meeting, calm and confident, soaking in the praise. Later, the veteran wideout shared the moment on his Instagram story, showing love right back with five simple words about his coach in the caption:Man is a different breed. (oncoming fist emoji).” We can sense a bonding developing.

No doubt, the high praise is something that any new veteran player would love to hear. And McVay did that with ease for Adams. During the OTA session, he showcased Adams’s standout plays from his 2024 season with the New York Jets. The HC highlighted his ability to win in isolation and his exceptional footwork, referring to him as a “total G on the field. The room also showed quarterback Matthew Stafford appeared enthusiastic about the new addition.

Adams, who signed a two-year, $46 million deal with the Rams, brings experience from his time with the Packers, Raiders, and Jets. His arrival is seen as a significant boost to the Rams’ offense. After all, he established himself as arguably the NFL’s best wide receiver while playing alongside Aaron Rodgers. In 2020, he dominated the league with 18 touchdowns, before his best season in 2021, where he hauled in 123 receptions for 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns. Hence, McVay is expecting something as great as that from Davante Adams this time.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Davante Adams and Matthew Stafford reignite the Rams' offense and make them a top contender?

Sean McVay is hoping for the best from Stafford and Adams!

The Rams aren’t out there trying to make bold claims or stir drama, they’re just getting to work. They’re not saying they’re the biggest threat to Philly. And they’re definitely not the ones hinting that Matthew Stafford’s about to walk away. Sean McVay made that clear when he said he loves coaching him. Indeed, he believes they’ve got a real chance every time he’s out there. No doubt, Stafford still looks sharp, and that fire’s still in him. That’s the reason why Coach McVay mentioned, “I think he can play as long as he wants. But fortunately, I’m hoping it’s a couple more years.” And for those couple of years, he brought in Davante Adams.

McVay pulled off what many see as the move of the offseason, and he couldn’t hide his excitement. He called Davante Adams smart, instinctual, and someone who brings serious value. During an interview, he said, “You know, I’m a fan. I might be a coach, but I’m a fan of his game. I’m a fan of his body of work, the way he goes about the preparation. You can see how smart and instinctual he is by the way he plays his game. We’re definitely very excited to add him and help him be one of the key parts of our team this coming season.” Add that to Matthew Stafford’s second wind since landing in L.A., and this team feels different.

They’re not yelling. They’re just loading up and getting ready to make noise when it counts. That’s a similar thought which Davante Adams shares, as for him, “The most important thing was (joining) a good, winning team.” And Rams is surely the one!
