The initial draft order was recently altered due to a change in one of the Cincinnati Bengals’ compensatory picks, affecting the picks of teams picking from No. 97 onwards, including the Miami Dolphins. As a result, each affected team’s picks were pushed back by one spot.

  • Round 1: No. 21 overall
  • Round 2: No. 55 overall
  • Round 5: No. 158 overall
  • Round 6: No. 184 overall (from CHI)
  • Round 6: No. 198 overall
  • Round 7: No. 241 overall

Despite not being awarded any compensatory picks for the fourth consecutive year, the Dolphins have a total of six picks in the 2024 NFL draft. This includes two picks in the sixth round but none in the third or fourth round.

Additionally, the Dolphins were involved in several transactions involving their draft picks:

  • Miami forfeited their third-round pick (which would have been No. 86 overall) and a first-round pick in 2023 for violating the league’s tampering rules.
  • The Dolphins traded their fourth-round pick (No. 120 overall) to the Denver Broncos as part of the 2022 trade for linebacker Bradley Chubb.
  • Miami acquired a sixth-round pick (No. 183 overall) from the Chicago Bears in exchange for offensive lineman Dan Feeney in 2023.

With these picks and strategic moves, the Miami Dolphins are poised to make significant strides in enhancing their roster for the upcoming season. Amidst the draft picks, reports suggest that the Dolphin is exercising caution regarding the contract negotiations.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler indicated that while the Dolphins are indeed interested in adding Beckham to their roster, they are hesitant to overspend for the three-time Pro Bowler. He said, “Odell Beckham met with the Miami Dolphins this past week and I was told the Dolphins are definitely interested. It’s probably going to be at a price point that they’re going to have to figure out. So, they’re not willing to overspend at this point.”

With constraints on their available cash and the need to balance their roster, the Dolphins are approaching the situation carefully, aiming to complement their dynamic receiving duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle with a veteran presence.

Despite the Dolphins’ interest and Beckham‘s meeting with the team reportedly going well, financial considerations remain a significant factor. Miami’s salary cap limitations have already forced them to make difficult decisions, parting ways with key players due to budget constraints.
