When the NFL season heats up, the spotlight tends to shine brightest on quarterbacks. But sometimes that light can feel a bit harsh. And being a quarterback isn’t just about throwing the ball; it’s about carrying the weight of the entire team on your shoulders. It’s no surprise that the QB position demands the most—every decision, and play changes the course of a game. And since they lead the charge, the quarterback comes under hot water when things go south!

One such NFL player who has come in the hot seat is Bryce Young. And Micah Parsons has come to his defense. His candid take on the Carolina Panthers’ handling of the quarterback has sparked conversation—and controversy. So, why is the linebacker so vocal about this, and what’s the bigger picture behind his concerns?

The Dallas Cowboys star has publicly voiced his concern over the Panthers’ decision to bench rookie quarterback Bryce Young after just two weeks of the 2024 NFL season. He said, “I don’t think he’s getting a fair shake at this, but I’m noticing this a lot.” The LB expressed his belief that Young, the number one overall draft pick, drew a comparison to how the Packers handled Jordan Love.

The three-time Pro Bowl receiver also mentioned how Justin Fields faced the same struggles. Parsons emphasized that these young QBs aren’t given a fair chance to develop at the same rate as other players. “Look at Jordan Love. He was developed for years around behind Rodgers. Finally got an opportunity as one of the highest-paid and respected quarterbacks in the NFL.

Parsons also mentioned benching is a hard lesson. It makes you feel like the team is overlooking all your hard work. When you put in the effort but still they reject you, it creates a sense of frustration and disappointment. It can mess with your confidence, but the key is to stay positive, believe in yourself, and push through, even when others doubt you. “I just hope he stays positive ,keeps believing himself paving that lane because you know, it’s a rough patch when you know the people around you don’t believe in you.”

Why is Bryce Young being benched?

Bryce Young was the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. But, the QB has hit a rough patch early in his career with the Panthers. He struggled through his first two games—throwing three interceptions and completing just 31 of 56 passes. The team dismissed him in favor of veteran Andy Dalton.

This harsh decision came after a particularly tough game against the Chargers. And since everyone has bad days, Young scored his career-low passer rating of 6.4. He is the first player who has been benched by any team for non-injury reasons this early in his career. And here is what the HC says about the decision!

As per Dave Canales, “My No. 1 responsibility is to help the Panthers this win. And this move, I believe, puts us in the best chance to do that this week.” But the team’s move came out of the blue for Young. As per Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, the decision came as very shocking for the quarterback and those close to him. And That’s not all! A source even said, “It came out of nowhere.

Well, a lot of players and analysts are supporting the NO.1 Pick. Former WR Chad Johnson stated, “You let him play two games. He has nothing surrounding him to help him. But now you’re gonna bench him and start Andy Dalton like that’s going to answer the problem.” The All-Pro receiver strongly believes that the team’s lack of a robust offensive line and skill position players has hampered Young’s development.
