“I beat the protocol,” said Jalen Hurts after being evaluated for a concussion against Commanders. Though the Eagles won 26-18, everyone was concerned. We have seen players going down because of the concussion. Dolphins’ QB Tua Tagovailoa is the best example. Not only he has lost game time, but the team has also suffered in his absence by losing games. Now, critics are questioning the Eagles QB’s approach.

Talking about the game with Rodney Harrison on the November 15 episode of NBC’s Pro Football Talk Show, Mike Florio slammed Hurts for his comment. The analyst explained the reason behind the protocol and said, “It’s not a game for you to try to win it’s for your own good the protocol is there for your own good.” That’s right. Twice, his head hit the ground. What exactly happened?
During the 2nd quarter, on 3rd & 7 from the Commanders’ 3-yard line, DE Dorance Armstrong and safety Quan Martin tackled Jalen Hurts to the ground. He got up and lingered his way to the sidelines where he was evaluated. Something similar happened in the 2nd quarter again.

LB Frankie Luvu tackled Hurts which sent him to the ground. The impact on his head must have left him dizzy as he took a few seconds to get back to his feet, but he stayed in the game. That’s when the fans were concerned. Most believed that he suffered a concussion but didn’t go to the sidelines.
If he suffered any head injury, then the Eagles should be very alert as the playoffs are approaching, and any such antics might cost them dearly.

Jalen Hurts should be wary of following Tua Tagovailoa’s path
While the Eagles are cruising with an 8-2 win-loss record, the Dolphins are struggling with a 3-6 record. And if one reason is to be given for this, Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion injury would be on top of that. That single-handedly changed their fortunes, for worse. Phins QB injured his head in week 2 against the Bills and returned in week 8 against the Cardinals. By week 7, the Phins had 2 wins and 4 losses. Even now, when he has returned, he has struggled and has 1 win and 2 losses.

Jalen Hurts should get alert if he wants to go a long way in the league. He needs to find the perfect technique to absorb those hits. Florio called him out and added, “That’s how Tua started down his path guys have that head whip and hit the ground, and even when it’s not artificial turf it’s still hard ground that your head is bouncing off of.”
It remains to be seen how the future pans out, but the Eagles need to focus on fitness. Losing Hurts at this point would jeopardize their wonderful season. They are at the top of their NFC East division and the conference. A fitness issue would be the last thing they want to ruin their Super Bowl chances.
