The last few days have been crazy for Dolfans. Earlier, Tua Tagovailoa got injured and was later put on concussion protocol. For one moment, it felt like the whole world was crashing for Dolphins. After deliberations about the quarterback department, the Dolphins brought Tyler ‘Snoop’ Huntley to the fold. Now, the head coach Mike McDaniel has given insight into the recent situations.

Good news first! The coach revealed that the premier quarterback was laughing and having a good time with the teammates, trainers, and medical staff. The team will review his progress on a day-to-day case. But he didn’t comment on the medical diagnosis. McDaniel said that he would wait for the final reports to come out.

Then, he talked about the new QB. McDaniel said Huntley will provide depth to the quarterback department, instead of supporting Skylar Thompson. The coach looked confident that this will help maintain the balance of the locker room. Huntley replaced Lamar Jackson at Ravens. And the Phins’ coach seems to be impressed with that.

While talking to the reporters, Mike McDaniel also revealed that he was unaware of the extent of the injury. Not only him, but the GM Chris Grier doesn’t know about the extent of the injury. Without information about it, they are yet to make any decision about putting the QB on the Injured Reserve (IR) list. Once named on that, the QB will miss 4 games.

One more thing he doesn’t know is about the retirement of the quarterback.

Mike McDaniel leaves the decision to retire on Tua Tagovailoa

As soon as the concussion injury was confirmed, the NFL was abuzz with talks of potential retirement. The base of such rumors was that this wasn’t Tagovailoa’s first concussion injury. In 2022, he suffered the same injury twice, which even forced him out of the playoffs. But the coach has stood like a rock with his signal caller.

Ever after the game on September 12, Mike McDaniel was among the first ones who requested fans to remain calm. He told everyone to give time to the quarterback. 4 days later, he is still rooting for his QB to return instead of retirement. Just in a more subtle way. While talking to media on September 16, he said that he didn’t have any talk about retirement with the QB and would leave that decision to him.
