However, he didn’t have a whole lot to say after the Pittsburgh Steelers ended their season at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. Tomlin just walked away from the presser!

After a humiliating 31-17 defeat that was followed by a lot of mistakes on the Steelers’ side, Tomlin stepped on the podium to speak for today’s game. As disappointed as he was, he didn’t stay for long to answer any more questions.

The reporter inquired about Mike Tomlin’s tenure with the Steelers. “Mike you have a year left on your contract..” The moment the head coach heard those words, he decided to walk out of the press conference with a disappointed look on his face.

Well, the reasons for his disappointment are self-explanatory. However, the graphic on the screen explains it in the best manner possible. “The Steelers have no playoff wins since 2016. Longest drought by PIT since 1970.” Said the infographic on the screen. However, in the wake of this game and the absence of Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph handles this situation well.

There were several other mistakes that Coach Tomlin highlighted in the presser. “I appreciate the efforts of our guys, just told them that, but efforts don’t get it done,” said Tomlin in the presser. The coach wasn’t shy about speaking about the mistakes the Steelers made that cost them a playoff game.

Mike Tomlin speaks candidly in the presser

He started off by mentioning the turnover that the Steelers gave away. Tomlin highlighted that the team cannot make such mistakes so far down the line. But it’s not just the turnovers. The injuries that Joey Porter Jr. and Allen Robinson faced have put them in concussion protocol. Pat Freiermuth also suffered an ankle injury as well.

Tomlin was asked about what was stopping the team from having a “consistent ground game”. He pointed out how the Bills’ “efforts” were keeping the Steelers at bay. Per the coach, the bills forced the Steelers to throw the ball more vertically. It gave them an opportunity for interceptions and takeaways. After this show of pressure from the Bills, the Steelers decided to move the football to the ground, but it was too late.
