After heckling and humiliation, Jerod Mayo had to leave New England, as they replaced him with Mike Vrabel as the new HC. The 49-year-old HC has been moving important pieces since he took charge of the job. The way he is going at the roots of the team’s failures this season, it’s gonna be a long night for the Patriots. In addition to this, Vrabel has taken a major step as reported by an NFL reporter.

The NFL reporter Tom Pelissero has dropped a bomb on the Patriots fans by revealing shocking news. He shared an update about Mike Vrabel’s team on social media, saying that assistant coach Mike Pellegrino will not be seen in the Patriots headquarters anymore. The reporter’s tweet was, “Longtime #Patriots assistant coach Mike Pellegrino will not return in 2025, per source. Pellegrino, 31, was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams over a decade in New England and coached three All-Pros during six years as DB coach. Mike Vrabel continues his staff overhaul.” That was a tough one.

Mike Pellegrino has been a cornerbacks coach for the Patriots since 2019. Before that, he was a coaching assistant for the team for four years from 2015 to 18. He was there when the Pats became the Super Bowl winners of SB LI and LII. The reason is said to be the head coach’s new hiring. Three days ago, the Patriots hired the Lions’ Terrell Williams as their defensive coordinator. The overhaul is real and people may see more big decisions in the coming days.

The NFL Coach of the Year award winner of 2021, Vrabel, has had a great career with the Titans. He was the Titans’ HC for six years and helped the team enter the playoffs three times (2019,20,21). The Patriots hired him in December 2024 after Mayo’s goodbye tenure. Fans have been awaiting a great season from Vrabel since he joined. The current coaching squad of Vrabel includes Josh McDaniels, DC Terrell Williams, and special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer.

But before the offseason even fully started with a good pace another shocking news has landed in New England- Bill Belichick‘s son is leaving the Patriots.

Brian Belichick’s exit after Mike Vrabel joining

Surprisingly, Bill Belichick’s son, Brian Belichick, has announced that he is leaving the Patriots organization after nine years. He was the team’s safety coach for five years (2020 to 2024), but before that, he joined the organization as a scouting assistant (2016). Belichick was also a coaching assistant for three years (2017-19). However, Brian Belichick has not revealed the reason for his departure or his future plans.

But it’s said that he may join Dad’s, Bill Belichick, office in the coming days. And how can we say that? Well, Brian’s brother, Steve, was also a part of the Patriots organization for a staggering nine years. However, Steve Belichick joined North Carolina University as a defensive coordinator. Surprising, right? So, either Vrabel no longer involves Brian Belichick in the franchise, or Brian joins his dad.

But one thing is clear: Mike Vrabel is taking strict measures to clear the floor. Firing a two-time SB-winning cornerback coach is a bold decision, but fans can hope that the upcoming season will be crazy.
