Mitchell Trubisky is back to his former home! Nearly a month ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers released backup QB Trubisky, so that he could find his next gig. The solution was set into motion after an underwhelming season for the Steelers, But, it has not let go of the QB struggles faced by the team. The decision to release Trubisky has, in fact, left the Steelers roster without a QB.

But, the good news for the 29-year-old is that he is moving back to a familiar environment. Before playing for the Steelers for the last two seasons, the former No. 2 draft spent a season (2021) with the Bills led by Josh Allen. With the Steelers, Trubisky started as the QB for the first four games of the 2022 season before being moved to the backup position behind QB Kenny Pickett.

But, this year in February, the 2018 Pro Bowl participant became a free agent. While he still had two years remaining in his contract with the franchise through 2025, the Bills have welcomed the athlete back into its camp. As per NFL Network Insider, Mike Garafolo, “The #Bills have agreed to terms with QB Mitch Trubisky to return to Buffalo, sources say. @ByTimGraham reported they were in talks. Kyle Allen served as a backup quarterback in the Bills team last season. But now as he is set to become a free agent next week, Mitch Trubisky will be taking his position. Before the 2023 NFL season, Pittsburgh extended Trubisky’s contract for two more years. However, they opted to terminate the extension due to the quarterback’s below-average performance. In the last season, Trubisky played in five games, starting two, and accumulated 632 passing yards with five interceptions and four touchdown passes.

This resulted in a quarterback rating of 71.9. Additionally, his notably subpar performance in a Week 14 defeat against the Patriots led the Steelers’ fans to call out for third-string quarterback Mason Rudolph to take over as a starter, who eventually led the team to three straight wins and a surprising playoff berth last season.
