When the confetti never fell, the dream of a Chiefs three-peat slipped away. But Randi Mahomes didn’t disappear—she doubled down. Since then, she’s been hell-bent on giving back to the community, spotted at fundraisers and campaigns, and leading initiatives to support the women behind the players, holding it all together. Along the way, she’s raised awareness about the mental health struggles players face and how their lives can crumble based on the stats they put up on the board. After all, it was Mom who held the line when Patrick fell short. Randi’s not just offering support; she’s revealing the hidden pressures athletes and their families face. Her message? It’s not about the 7-pound trophy—it’s about what you say when the moment feels too big.

Randi Mahomes isn’t just your regular run-of-the-mill NFL mom. She’s a steady voice behind the scenes. On May 9,  Mahomes shared a reel on Instagram featuring professional psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo. Her caption read, “When it’s game time, even before something big like the Super Bowl, I always tell them the same thing — go out there and have fun!! Don’t overthink it. Just do what you love and what you know best. That’s what I say to keep them grounded in those big moments.”

In the reel, the duo talks about dealing with the paramount pressure of the big league. Both Grandi and Dr. Lombardo were in unison about the mental weight athletes carry. As Lombardo put it, “That pressure is so real or it can be. What they want to do is to focus on what they can control, what they want to create as opposed to what they don’t want to happen.”

Lombardo has the Mom-Mahomes stamp of recommendation: “My friend Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo. She always has the best advice on how to support your kids with confidence.” For Randi, it’s about giving her kids the tools to stay mentally strong in high-pressure moments. She asked, “What is the one advice you would give?” The conversation addresses serious mental health issues.

Randi mentions the “weight of the world” Patrick carried during big games. Dr. Lombardo has the lethal mantra to counter it effectively. Her key advice? Build a “power phrase.” As she put it, “What that power phrase is, is individual. I’ve got this, I own it, bring it on.” Now a proud Grandi, Randi has seen it all—the tears, the setbacks, the long road behind each win. She’s no stranger to heartbreak on the field either, drawing from the Chiefs’ recent failure to pull off a historic 3-peat.

“Not the ending,” Randi Mahomes wanted.

Writers were ready to pen down Patrick’s name as the historic 3-peat looked closer to happening. But as fate and the Eagles would have it, the Super Bowl belonged to someone else. It was a crushing blow that left both the locker room and the field steeped in emotional turmoil. The Chiefs had been so close to cementing their legacy, only to fall short in a game that felt bigger than just one season.

Patrick Mahomes, understandably stumped by the denial of history, expressed the weight of the loss: “There’s no way around it. Anytime you lose a Super Bowl, it’s the worst thing in the world… it will stick with you the rest of your career.” The quarterback then reflected on what could have been, acknowledging the magnitude of a three-peat: “It [would be] legendary. No one’s ever done it, and we knew it’s legendary to win back-to-back.”

The Chiefs’ performance wasn’t up to their usual standards. They were very close to achieving the Bay feat. The first half was arguably the worst of the Mahomes era, with the offense struggling to find rhythm. The Eagles’ defensive line hounded Mahomes on every passing down, putting constant pressure on the star quarterback.

By halftime, Mahomes was 7-of-15 for 41 yards, two interceptions, and a pick-six that deepened the Chiefs’ 17-0 hole. With an A.J. Brown touchdown, the Chiefs went into halftime down 24-0, struggling to get anything going. Despite the setback, Randi Mahomes remained the unwavering support her son needed.

“Not the ending we wanted, but so incredibly proud of Patrick and this team. No matter what, I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader, son. Thank you, Chiefs Kingdom, for the love, support, and riding with us every step of the way,” she wrote on Instagram. Through it all, she stayed by his side, a steady rock in the face of defeat. Randi has always been there, not just for her son Patrick but for the community as well. Her unwavering support has always extended beyond the field, and now, through her business, she continues that mission.
