Shilo Sanders has been house-hunting in Miami. He weighed out the options against his needs, and some properties didn’t make the cut. Among them was a nice apartment in Downtown Miami, and it would cost Sanders a good price. However, a big reason to pass on the impressive flat was the lack of closet space.

“I’m sorry, Auntie,” Shilo Sanders told the woman showing him around the flat. “My clothes not going to fit in here.”

“Auntie, you don’t know what I got at home. I got a whole room of clothes.” He explained that he has about five bedrooms right now, and one of them is just for clothes.

“So I can’t really survive in this. But I should be able to move somewhere where I don’t have all that stuff, though. So that is true. I need to get rid of some stuff.”

Sanders seemed to like the flat the minute he stepped into it. He’d viewed it online before, and liked the fact that it wasn’t too much space. The apartment was also near the Cactus Club, one of Sanders’ favorite spots in town. However, when Sanders learned the price of the apartment, he became uninterested.

“$11,000. That’s something I don’t like,” Sanders added. “That’s a lot for this spot.”

This isn’t the first place he has turned down. In another YouTube video, he went to see a different home, and once again the rent was the problem. The apartment was sleek, modern, with windows running from floor to ceiling that had Shilo a little on edge.

He’s slightly afraid of heights, and he used to live at a similar height back in Tampa Bay. He pushed past the fear and came to look at the Edgewater anyway, and the view of the river really won him over.

But the moment he heard $14,000, he headed straight for the elevator, pressing the button repeatedly.

He also had a memorable moment during a YouTube vlog last year, when he toured Miami properties. A realtor showed him a $5 million luxury condo and assumed money was no issue. Sanders corrected that assumption pretty fast and passed on the property.

“Do you watch football?” Sanders told the realtor, amused. “How often do you watch football? Do you see me on there? You said this place is $5 million? You know what a trust fund is…I ain’t get that.”

All of this comes after Sanders took the stand for his bankruptcy trial, which ran from August 31 to September 4.

He filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2023 after he was ordered to pay John Darjean $11.89 million following a default judgment. The latter was a security guard at Shilo Sanders’ former high school and alleged that he had inflicted serious injuries during an altercation between them.

The five-day hearing ended without a verdict, and a ruling isn’t expected until after November. It hasn’t been a quiet trial, though. The holdup right now is missing footage, which has a better angle of the alleged fight.

“It just appears real obvious that there is some missing video that no one seems to have been able to find,” Judge Michael E. Romero said.

Darjean claims the video was stolen. Testimony has changed too, with one key witness walking back their statement. Sanders also alleged he was being assaulted.

Darjean had also collapsed in court on September 3 after two hours on the stand.

For now, the outcome hinges on one question. If the court decides the injury was intentional, the debt stays with him. If his self-defense claim holds up, he walks away owing nothing.

Through all of it, Deion Sanders has stood by his son, saying he is “praying for my baby” and hopes people “see what really transpired.”

For now, Shilo is stuck in a waiting game. A verdict is months away, and until then he’s still looking for a place that fits both his budget and his wardrobe.
