The U-turn? His “goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.” Hence, on February 3, Myles Garrett requested a trade from HC Kevin Stefanski’s team, as his aim was to be with a Super Bowl contender squad. But where there is money, most things can be sorted easily. The same happened with the Cleveland Browns. And guess what? Sean Payton’s daughter is not surprised at all!
After months of trade discussions, Kevin Stefanski’s Browns have finally convinced their 29-year-old defensive player. On Sunday, March 9, Myles Garrett agreed to sign a new contract extension with the franchise. NFL reporter Ari Meirov on X wrote a timeline of Garrett’s contract update: “Feb. 4: Myles Garrett publicly requests trade, says he wants to win. Feb. 27: Myles Garrett is unwilling to negotiate a contract extension with the Browns. Mar. 7: The owner won’t even meet with him. Mar. 9: Myles Garrett signs 4-year, $160M extension with the Browns.”
With Myles Garrett re-signing with Kevin Stefanski’s team, Sean Payton’s daughter appeared not surprised. Meghan Payton re-shared Meirov’s post on her official X account and questioned, “Does this honestly surprise anyone?” She quipped, concluding with: “Browns will always be the Browns.”

Payton’s remarks on Cleveland reportedly reflect on the Brown’s reputation. The FanDuel TV host pointed out how chaotic and unpredictable the Browns can be. Myles Garrett went from demanding a trade to refusing contract talks to supposedly being ignored by the owners — only to suddenly sign a massive four-year deal. It looks messy, and Payton is reportedly implying that this kind of drama is just typical for Kevin Stefanski’s Cleveland.
No doubt the team has a history of questionable decisions, inconsistency, or drama. For instance, in 1995, Browns owner Art Modell surprised NFL fans with an announcement. He said that he is going to move the Cleveland team to Baltimore. This decision shook the fans, leading them and the leaders to rally against it. Hence, later, they succeeded in moving back the team to Cleveland, as they created a new expansion team bearing the same name.
And how can we forget the Browns’s decision to sign quarterback Deshaun Watson? At that time, the player was stuck in 27 lawsuits related to controversial misconduct. That decision raised eyebrows for Kevin Stefanski’s team. So, yeah, believe it or not, Cleveland’s decision keeps surprising us from time to time, like the recent quarterback updates!

Kevin Stefanski might get two new QBs?
Myles Garrett trade is done! He has now become the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history at $40 million per year. But giving the player a lot of money doesn’t solve every problem for Kevin Stefanski’s team. After all, as Garrett said, he aims to be with a team that can win the Super Bowl. And a good roster could make it possible, especially at the quarterback position.
Kevin Stefanski and the team under the salary cap have restructured Deshaun Watson’s contract. Additionally, with his constant Achilles tendon injuries, his future hangs on a thin thread. That’s the reason they need a quarterback badly. In addition to this, according to a recent prediction by The Athletic, the Browns are doubling down on the issue.

As per reporter Zack Rosenblatt, the Browns can land veteran QB Kirk Cousins. Moreover, they might end up drafting Alabama QB Jalen Milroe as well. In fact, these QBs have past connections with the team’s coaches. How? Well, in Cousins’s case, the veteran player has worked with Kevin Stefanski in 2018 and 2019 (one of the best seasons).
On the other hand, Milroe experienced his best college season in 2023. And did you know who the OC was at that time in Alabama? The Browns coordinator Tommy Rees! So, you see, the connections are here! Kevin Stefanski and the Browns just need to hit the right button this time.
