The New York Jets, under head coach Aaron Glenn, play host to the Buffalo Bills this weekend. The Josh Allen-led team comes to MetLife Stadium in top form after pulling off an exceptional 41-40 win against the Baltimore Ravens. Considering the daunting task ahead, Glenn has delivered a strong statement to his locker room.

Hours before this blockbuster match-up, the Jets shared a video on X, hyping up the players and fans alike. In said video, Aaron Glenn can be heard talking about the team’s hopes and plans. He shared his excitement for the 2025 season before sending a message that seemed to be directed to his players. “I am excited about the things that we are continuing to build and how we are moving forward. And continue playing our brand of football because I think that speaks louder than anything,” Glenn can be heard saying.

The Jets’ brand of football was on full display during their opening game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Justin Fields under center, Gang Green looked better as a unit than they had in years. If not for a few unfortunate plays in the fourth quarter and the magic produced by Aaron Rodgers and Chris Boswell, the Jets would’ve come out of the matchup as the winners.

Fields managed to throw for 218 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Some may even say it was an MVP performance from the 26-year-old QB. However, the Jets will be facing the reigning NFL MVP tonight in Josh Allen. Although Tom Brady doesn’t think Allen is the “greatest passer” in NFL, he is undoubtedly a huge threat.

Aaron Glenn is betting his hopes on the Jets’ brand of football being enough to stop the man the Bills Mafia have dubbed The Winter Soldier.

Aaron Glenn’s defense may need more than four sacks to stop Josh Allen

Shutting down Josh Allen will be key if the Jets hope to get a win in their first home match of the season. In addition to throwing for a whopping 394 yards and two touchdowns, Allen also rushed for 30 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Ravens. He was nothing short of exceptional, and his game film is something Aaron Glenn should be having his defense watch on repeat.

Going up against the Steelers, the Jets’ defense struggled to contain a veteran Aaron Rodgers, who recorded four TDs. That being said, they did also put him under pressure, sacking him four times. However, as the aforementioned stats show, facing Allen, funnily enough, will be a different kind of ball game.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Aaron Glenn's 'brand of football' really stop Josh Allen, or is it just wishful thinking?

Aaron Glenn will surely rely heavily on some of his defensive juggernauts, including Sauce Gardner, Quinnen Williams, and Jermaine Johnson. Even Will McDonald IV, who sacked Rodgers twice, is someone who will no doubt be looking to chip in. Regardless, a win over the Bills could define the team’s 2025 season.

Should they come out on top, the next three weeks could be somewhat smooth sailing for the Jets. They head to Florida to take on the Buccaneers and the Dolphins, before returning home to host the Cowboys.
