Is Aaron Rodgers playing mind games with teams out there? Because at this point, it sure seems like it. The ex-Jets QB remains the only big-name veteran QB still on the market, and the Steelers are pretty much the only team looking like they need him. And if you ask Steelers owner Art Rooney II, things sound promising. “We keep getting positive sort of signals about it. So yeah, I’d say we feel pretty good about it at this point,” Rooney said at the NFL Annual Meetings.
Rodgers even took a trip to Pittsburgh on March 21, met with Mike Tomlin, and then just walked out of the building without signing anything. Now, a new video of the veteran QB is making the rounds, frustrating fans all over again. And this time, it just so happens to involve a fresh face in the Steelers locker room. Aaron was seen working out with the Steelers’ newly signed WR, DK Metcalf. Interestingly, it’s frustrating people, with many accusing Rodgers of dragging out his decision yet again. Enter former NFL coach and analyst Eric Mangini, who didn’t hesitate to call out Rodgers for staging the entire workout video.
“If there was a sincere desire to get to know DK and work out with him, you don’t need to do those things publicly,” Mangini said on a recent episode of First Things First. The retired coach accuses the veteran QB of putting on a show. Eric says it’s more like he’s trying to send a message to another team: “Look how much I’m flirting with this other team. You might want to come get me before this goes any further.”

According to multiple reports, Rodgers wanted to sign with the Vikings, but they aren’t willing to give him a shot. They’re more focused on developing their young QB, J.J. McCarthy. On top of that, they want to avoid the drama and controversy that always seems to follow Rodgers.
On the other hand, commentator and analyst Chris Broussard didn’t hold back either. He called Aaron Rodgers a diva and warned Pittsburgh about signing with him.

Chris Broussard doubts Aaron Rodgers’ fit in Pittsburgh
Rodgers has built a certain kind of reputation around the league. Truth be told, it’s not exactly a positive one. And ever since Aaron signed with the Jets, it has been a menace for him. That was also the reason that after two years, the Jets decided to drop him from the squad.
Talking about his recent workout video with DK Metcalf on the same show (First Things First), Chris Broussard admitted, “To me, the only reason you do this is just to mess with people. To be in the news, be on the shows, mess with people’s minds, have them discuss you.” Broussard says that the veteran QB has been doing it for years now and that it’s his “diva tendencies.”

“If I want Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh, I want him buying in. I want him humbled from what happened with the Jets, and I want him to say, ‘Let’s get to business and win a ring.’ I mean, I don’t think they would, but that’s the Aaron Rodgers I want,” added Broussard. The FOX Sports host also had a blunt message for the Steelers, agreeing with coach Eric Mangini. “I’m not saying this is a pick I’m making, but it’s on the board, if he goes to Pittsburgh, they have their first losing season. I’m just saying, it’s on the board.” Mike Tomlin’s team has maintained 18 consecutive winning seasons, but Broussard makes it clear that Rodgers’ arrival could put that streak in jeopardy.

Now, that’s a brutal thing to say about a Super Bowl-winning QB who has been incredible on the gridiron. But honestly, that’s something Rodgers has earned himself. Well, it’ll be interesting to see if the Steelers end up picking him. Or if the veteran QB has to consider retirement this season.
