Klint Kubiak’s coaching career is up and about. After signing up with the San Francisco 49ers in March 2023, he led the team to the Super Bowl after four years. For the first two quarters, it looked like the 49ers would finally win the Lombardi trophy after 30 years. But fate had different plans as the Kansas City Chiefs charged to their 2nd straight championship victory. And with this Klint’s time with the team also comes to an end.

He has been linked with a move to New Orleans Saints for months now. As curtains drew on the 49ers’ Super Bowl dream, the 36-year-old is packing his bags to leave for Orleans.

In the latest update, NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed that New Orleans Saints and Klint Kubiak have agreed on a deal to be their new offensive coordinator. “The #Saints and #49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak have reached a deal for Kubiak to be their new offensive coordinator, source says. The top target all along, Kubiak’s hire gives coach Dennis Allen a rising play-caller who was coveted by several other teams“, his post on X read. Klint had been a top target of Saints, and the two were linked several times over the past months after the Saints fired their offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael.

Carmichael was appointed in 2021 after Sean Payton stepped down. The Saints were flourishing under Payton’s leadership, but after he left, Carmichael couldn’t replicate the former’s success with two mediocre seasons in 2022 and 2023. New Orleans interviewed over 11 candidates but has now finally landed their top target. Klint, who comes with a lot of experience, will look to strengthen the offensive of the Saints just like he did at the 49ers.

Son of Gary Kubiak, Klint Kubiak has coached in his veins. Gary played a revolutionary role in NFL rushing attacks as an assistant coach, and his legacy further strengthened after winning the Super Bowl as a head coach with the Denver Broncos in 2015. His son, Klint, learnt the offense lessons from him, and started his career at Texas A&M in 2010-11. 2 years later, he got his biggest opportunity.

Klint was hired by the Minnesota Vikings in 2013 as an offensive quality control, where he also got the chance to work under Bill Musgrave and Norv Turner. However, later in 2015, he switched to college football at the University of Kansas. But soon enough, he came back and was hired by the Denver Broncos. He joined the Minnesota Vikings for the second time in 2019, but moved back to the Broncos in 2021. Two years later, he led the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII and will hope to change the result with the Saints.
