Back in 2020, Ryan Clark had a strong opinion that still follows him today. At the time, both Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray were at the top of the NFL’s rushing quarterback conversation. Yet Clark made a choice, one that now has fans circling back to remind him how things really turned out.

During that debate, Clark didn’t hold back on whom he trusted more with the Baltimore Ravens. “If Kyler Murray right now was the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, we’d have much more confidence in them to win the Super Bowl. Period. We would,” Clark responded. He doubled down, saying, “It wouldn’t be a discussion…if Kyler Murray’s the quarterback of this team, I see them in the AFC championship going toe to toe, head to head, with the Kansas City Chiefs because he does add that extra dimension.” At the time, it felt bold. Now? Not so much.
Since then, the numbers tell their own story. Murray has posted a passer rating of 93.3 with 16,518 yards, 101 touchdowns, and 48 interceptions in 70 games. Jackson, on the other hand, has put up a 102.7 passer rating with 16,453 yards, 133 touchdowns, and 40 interceptions in 75 games. Pretty close on paper. But this season, Murray is fading while Jackson is flying.

Right now, Jackson looks unstoppable. He owns a passer rating of 141.8 with 722 yards and 9 touchdowns in just three games. Meanwhile, Murray sits at 87.4 with 742 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions in four games. And because of that, fans are pressing Clark as his old take on Jackson vs. Murray ages worse by the week.

Fans rip Ryan Clark after Murray’s latest struggles
Kyler Murray had another rough night in the desert. The Cardinals quarterback went 27-of-41 for 200 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a Week 4 loss to the Seahawks. He did flash late, but it wasn’t enough to stop the boos echoing through State Farm Stadium. And when the final whistle blew, fans quickly tied his struggles back to Ryan Clark’s old opinion. One even wrote, “Ryan Clark has some God awful takes dawg that’s why they continue to put him on TV.”

Then came more fire from the Bird Gang. “Kind of goes to show that anyone can do that job. You never have to be right. Why espn pays dudes millions because of “qualifications” when the guy on the street is correct as often as these dudes and would do the job for 10% of the money 🤷🏻♂” one fan wrote. Another added, “Man @Realrclark25, this aged horribly, probably one of your worst takes and that is saying something. But hey you played my guy, 😂” That mix of laughter and frustration showed how little patience fans have for bad predictions.
Stat-wise, Murray wasn’t a disaster. He took two sacks, rushed for 41 yards, and carried Arizona’s ground game in Week 3. He also tossed two scores in the fourth. But turnovers and sacks killed his momentum. The comeback effort fizzled, and the Cardinals stayed stuck in neutral. For fantasy managers, Murray has been steady, but steady doesn’t win games in the NFL.

Of course, Lamar Jackson’s name came right back into it. “’This is not knocking Lamar’ 😂😂😂😂 they always say that while diminishing his accomplishments,” one fan said. Another piled on with, “Ryan Clark misses way too much on his takes to still be employed. Nobody in their right mind would be confident in a 5’10 QB winning a superbowl. Cmon now.” The shade was sharp and direct.
In the end, this isn’t just about Murray’s stats or Clark’s words. It’s about fans keeping receipts. And when Lamar is shining while Murray is struggling, those receipts resurface fast.
