As the regular NFL season ends, many players will look at their contracts. Not all of them will get a big payday based on incentives, but WR DeAndre Hopkins of the Tennessee Titans will not be one of them.
With the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 31-year-old will hit the benchmark. This incentive is lucrative for the 2017 NFL receiving touchdowns leader. But this will not be the first time he gets incentive bonuses this season.

The Titans do not have much to play for. With a record of 5-11, they have long been eliminated from the playoffs race. But WR Hopkins has shown his mettle and importance for the lackluster team. And in doing so, he will make a lot of money.
Titans’ WR DeAndre Hopkins needs 39 receiving yards Sunday vs. the Jaguars to reach 1050 this season and trigger a $250,000 incentive and needs seven catches to reach 75 this season to trigger another $250,000.

Before the game began, Hopkins needed just 39 receiving yards and seven more catches to meet his targets. These accomplishments were going to net him $250,000 apiece.

In each of the three categories of catches, yards, and touchdowns, Hopkins’ contract has four tiers. Each tier is worth $250,000. With 75 catches, he has reached the second tier, with 1050 yards, the fourth tier, and in TDs, he managed to get past four, qualifying for the first tier.
His net pay will be $500,000 in catches and $250,000 in TDs. But in terms of receiving yards, the former Houston Texans wide receiver met all the criteria, earning him a million dollars. That makes his total revenue from incentives $1.75 million.
