NFL Injury Report – Bad Scene in Houston as Rookie WR Tank Dell Carted Off the Field After Brutal Blow

Bad news incoming for the Houston Texans! In the game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football an injury is set to cast doubts on the winning chances of the Texans. Both teams are 6-5, and a loss for either would mean that their winning record would convert into a 0.500 one. While the Broncos are on a 5-game winning streak, the Texans are coming off a defeat in the last week.

After a nail-biting game that kept spectators hooked till the last second, the Texans emerged victorious in spite of their star WR being sidelined. But what really happened on the field?

What happened to Tank Dell on the gridiron?

With almost 4 minutes left on the clock for the first quarter to end, RB Dameon Pierce ran for a 3-yard TD that would bump up the Texans’ score to 9-0. But Tank Dell was blocking on the play and one of his legs found itself buried underneath a pile of Broncos defenders. He winced in pain while the medical staff rushed to help him.

Dell had been battling a calf injury and fans were speculating whether he would be cleared to play on Sunday. But then news broke that he would be playing. It seems that he would again have to watch from the sidelines as he suffered the brutal blow near the end zone. Ian Rapoport later reported that he had fractured his fibula and would be placed on the injured reserve.

How big of a loss would this prove to be for the Texans?

Dell had recorded 47 catches for 709 yards and 7 TDs before the game against the Broncos. He had also suffered a concussion earlier which saw him miss the Week 5 game. Now with him absent, the Houston Texans’ offense will be severely crippled as their TE Dalton Schultz is also sidelined with a hamstring injury.

In the Broncos game, however, the Texans maintained a good lead throughout the game and finally beat the Broncos 17-22. In the last few seconds of the game when the Broncos were just yards away from the TD and securing a win, the Texans made a crucial interception that dashed all hopes for Denver. With Dell sidelined for a considerable time, how will it affect the Texans’ future matchups?
