While the Dallas Cowboys prepare to mount a Super Bowl campaign, tensions in the locker room have already boiled over onto the field. Whether it’s Donovan Ezeiruaku throwing punches or DeMarvion Overshown’s scuffles, we’ve seen plenty of trouble brewing between stars. And according to an NFL legend, there’s more to come.
A week ago, when Von Miller signed for the Cowboys, reports surfaced about his new teammate, CeeDee Lamb, being seen with Miller’s former fiancée, Megan Denise, in a club.
The situation became a topic on Cam Newton’s 4th&1 With Cam Newton, where the former NFL quarterback discussed what it could mean now that Lamb and Miller are teammates in Dallas.
“You got a former first-ballot Hall of Famer playing this game with a potential Hall-of-Fame-like player in CeeDee too,” Newton said on the podcast. “And who knows, they could have got in front of it before it came out, man, whether they did it or they didn’t. Brothers and sisters and members of the council, it still sticks.”
Soon after Von Miller signed his contract with the Cowboys, a video began circulating online showing a man believed to be Lamb with Denise at a Dallas nightclub, with the two later reportedly seen holding hands in a car.
It’s important to note that the clip did not confirm a relationship between the two. Neither Denise nor Lamb has confirmed any details.
However, it’s not the first time such reports have emerged. Earlier in July, similar reports began circulating online. And that’s what Newton addressed next on his podcast.
“There was a report a couple of weeks ago that said Von Miller ran CeeDee Lamb out of the club,” Newton said. “That’s what the report said. Well, we got nothing but time. Boy, them team drills gonna be a little interesting.”
Miller and Denise have shared a complicated history. After they began dating in 2017, the couple had an on-and-off relationship. During this time, there was a probe into Denise being assaulted by the linebacker. However, in 2021, before the brith of their first child, Denise later issued a statement.
“First and foremost, at no point in our relationship was there any type of physical abuse or violence by Von, whatsoever. For anyone to say otherwise, or speculate such, is wrong… Von and I are excited to be welcoming our baby into the world, and are committed to raising our child with love and compassion, together as a family.”
And while the two broke off their engagement, they have since raised three children.
At the moment, with camp finished and the third preseason game fast approaching, Von Miller remains Lamb’s teammate. And the Cowboys will hope there will be no tension between the two. We’ve already seen fighting in the Cowboys’ camp.
In any case, Von Miller will look to prove himself as an important addition to the team. The former had previously dropped by the Cowboys’ camp earlier in the offseason, and he had long expressed a desire to play for the Cowboys. It is not known whether he and Lamb have interacted before.
Miller has already begun work as a Dallas Cowboy, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. He was seen working off the side with consultant BT Jordan. Miller could debut as a full participant when the Cowboys return home from Oxnard, before which he will be going through a ramp-up.
Unlike Lamb, a proper starter, Miller will probably be used on a situational basis. He is 37 years old and comes to Dallas having scored nine sacks with the Washington Commanders. His addition should round out the Cowboys’ pass rush this season, which the team severely lacked last year. However, there could be a chance that Miller gets to see more time on the field.
“Ultimate professional, phenomenal teammate, and obviously he can still get after the quarterback, play at a high level as an all-down player,” defensive coordinator Christian Parker said about Miller. “We’re not really putting a cap on what could be this year. We’re going to let that kind of handle itself.”
