What a night for CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans. Not only did they manage to score back-to-back pick sixes but also accomplished several TDs. Truly, the display of skills every die-hard football fan might like to watch coming from an underdog team. Thus, given today’s performance, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that CJ Stroud is on his way to securing the Rookie of the Year title this season.

First, he broke Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy’s records for most passing yards in the first half. Now, Stroud is on his way to join the legacy of Brock Purdy, Russell Wilson, and the dejected Joe Flacco. As the Texans have secured a vital victory against the Browns, CJ Stroud has become one of the few rookies to have helped his team deliver favorable results.

CJ Stroud etches his name in the history books

The Texans have clinched a 45-14 victory in their first playoff game tonight and CJ Stroud has registered his name in the league alongside Brock Purdy, Russell Wilson, and Joe Flacco in no time. In all the four quarters, the Houston Texans looked in control as they hammered Browns’ defense. From the looks of it, the Stroud-led team had their basics and special moves covered as they unleashed on the gridiron.

This performance and win of the squad has inscribed Stroud’s name on exclusive list of rookie QBs to win an NFL playoff game. Per Pro Football Network,in 2022 it was Brock Purdy who achieved the feat. Against the Seattle Seahawks, he led the 49ers with a final score of 41-23 in the wildcard match. In that game, Purdy threw for 332 yards, and the record was just short of Joe Montana’s 357- and 347-yard past performances.

He won two playoff games before losing the championship game. In 2012, Russell Wilson did the same in the game when he was playing for the Seattle Seahawks and won a single playoff game before the team was kicked off after losing the divisional round.

Joe Flacco was also able to register a similar achievement in his rookie year in 2008 with the Baltimore Ravens. He won two playoff games but lost the conference championship and the Ravens were ousted from the contention. Houstan Texans’ fans will be hoping that CJ Stroud and his squad keep moving forward without facing any setbacks.

CJ Stroud came out of the game with 274 passing yards, completing 16 of his 21 passes and going from 3 touchdowns. Stroud had the assistance of Nico Collins, Brevin Jordan, and Dalton Schultz throughout the game. The blowout game will prove to be advantageous for the Texans. This is the most amount of points the Cleveland Browns have given away this season.

This game of the Texans witnessed phenomenal gameplay. First, there were two back-to-back pick sixes that came in the third quarter from Steven Nelson and Christian Harris, who had an 82-yard and a 36-yard run respectively. Second, the brilliant rushing TD from Devin Singletary in the final quarter of the game. And finally, the great record made by rookie QB Stroud.
