Since he left Pittsburgh as a QB2, Justin Fields’ life changed when Aaron Glenn brought him into the fold. And if you could see his recent video during practice, you can’t identify him. The guy’s arm strength, completion of throws, everything has changed. Now, the fans are eagerly waiting for his appearance in week 1 of the 2025 NFL season. But while moving closer towards the NFL season, there is one thing the New York Jets are missing.
That’s a strong, veteran, and experienced wide receiver — a true game-changer. We’re not saying Breece Hall and the rest of the offense aren’t capable, but what Josh Allen’s former WR brings is on another level. We’re talking about Amari Cooper.
He is a four-time Pro Bowler with over 10,000 career receiving yards. His route running, consistency, and big-game experience could give the Jets the offensive edge they need. Adding Cooper wouldn’t just improve the passing game, it would open things up for everyone. The Jets should seriously consider bringing him in as that final, crucial piece.

ESPN’s Matt Bowen wrote an article regarding the remaining free agents and their perfect fits. When talking about Amari Cooper, the renowned NFL analyst wrote, “Yes, the 30-year-old is showing signs of decline on tape, but he is still a detailed route runner who can uncover.” He also added, “He could be a solid target for quarterback Justin Fields on play-action concepts, getting open on deep in-breakers.” The Browns traded him in October 2024. The reason behind that was his inability to score some points and gain yards.
Cooper had a great stint with the Browns, where he spent two and a half years. He left the city of Cleveland in 2024 as the franchise wanted to trade him to the Bills. But one year before that season was quite great for Cooper.
In 2023, he played 15 games and managed to receive 72 throws at 128 targets. He covered 1,250 yards in that year and landed a total of five touchdowns. Apart from that, his four years with the Cowboys were also exceptional. In his third year with the Cowboys, Justin Fields’ potential WR made 92 receptions at 130 targets with an average of 12.1 yards per reception. That’s why not only Justin Fields’ New York Jets, but two more NFL franchises are interested in Amari Cooper.

After Justin Fields’ Jets, two more franchises are interested in Cooper
The Raiders are pretty much packed with their offensive squad. After Geno Smith’s induction, Ashton Jeanty was also added to the running back position. That makes it worse for the opponent’s defense. But hold on. The Raiders are also looking for a quality, experienced wide receiver, and Amari Cooper can be a great fit.

The Raiders currently have Jakobi Meyers as a starter WR, while Dont’e Thornton Jr., Collin Johnson, and Zakhari Franklin are at the backup. And there are four more wideouts, too. But they want Cooper to do something crazy in the 2025 season. Jakobi has only made 87 receptions in 2024 at 11.8 average. That’s not a great performance statistically. So, the Raiders’ interest in Cooper is justifiable, and they should not have an issue in adding this horse to the stable.

Well, apart from the Raiders’ story, the Saints are also interested. The Saints currently have star wide receiver Chris Olave. But the wideout reportedly asked for a trade. If the Saints want a powerful WR like Cooper, they can straight up trade Olave for another position and also sign Cooper from free agency. The other two WRs are Brandin Cooks and Rashid Shaheed. But to get the starting WR with 10 years of experience, Cooper would be the best choice. Well, the guy has been in free agency for months now. Let’s see if Justin Fields’ team signs Cooper or any other team.
