Looks like there’s some conflict between Sean McDermott‘s Bills and Kellen Moore‘s Saints. Just on Monday, Kellen Moore snapped the rumors with a strong move that will impact the Bills. That’s because McDermott wanted the player that the Saints have retained. But the impact, that’s what is stirring the pot.

According to reports (or perhaps rumors), the Saints’ head coach wants to retain wide receiver Chris Olave, whose contract is $19 million. Also, the 2022 first-round pick is reportedly excited to play under Moore and the new system. On Monday, rumors were swirling in Buffalo that McDermott was looking for two first-round picks—one from the Vikings and another one from the Saints.

The Vikings’ WR Jordan Addison and the Saints’ WR Chris Olave are both classy wideouts with strong legs, lightning speed, and cat-like reflexes. After Mack Hollins’s departure to New England and Amari Cooper’s uncertain return, the Bills were looking to trade for either Chris Olave or Jordan Addison. Both are rookie wideouts. Specifically speaking about Olave, he has entered the final year of his $19,271,874 four-year deal. But why are both teams fighting for the 24-year-old Chris Olave?

His 2024 production of 32 receptions for 400 yards and 1 touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. That, combined with his strong athleticism and well-built physique, reportedly led these teams to keep an eye on the Ohio State alum.

However, these stats don’t fully reflect Olave’s potential. He played only eight games last season. If Kellen Moore keeps him, and he stays healthy, the free agency deal could pay off. In fact, if the Bills land him, Josh Allen’s offense could skyrocket.

Meanwhile, as the Saints and Moore focus on wide receiver moves, they’re also relentlessly pursuing a franchise quarterback in a blockbuster trade.

Kellen Moore is to land QB for the future for the Saints

First of all, Derek Carr is not going anywhere, as his contract has two more years left with a cap hit exceeding $60,000,000 in 2026. So, that’s not the case right now. Talks are ongoing about the future, and Kellen Moore is ready to risk something for that one QB in this draft. According to NFL.com’s draft analyst Lance Zierlein, the Saints could trade up to draft Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. Yeah, you read that right.

“No. 32 New Orleans Saints – Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss, QB. Projected Trade With Philadelphia Eagles. With teams like the Giants (No. 34 overall) and Raiders (No. 37) sitting in front of the Saints (No. 40) in the second round, New Orleans swaps with the Eagles to land a quarterback.” This is what the draft analyst wrote in his round-1 mock draft. The Saints aim to jump ahead of the Giants and Raiders, both searching for a long-term quarterback. Jaxson Dart has impressed with 29 touchdowns, 4,279 passing yards, and a 69.3% completion rate over the past year.

That’s why Moore might trade up from the 40th to the 32nd pick, where last year’s champions sit, to secure their future QB. With a wide receiver and quarterback as top priorities, the Saints must navigate the trade wisely. Will they land Dart, or will this bold move fall short?
