Once upon a time, Tyreek Hill and Patrick Mahomes formed one of the most destructive duos in the league. But those days are behind us, ever since being traded to the Miami Dolphins, ‘Cheetah’ has not stepped a foot inside the Kansas City Chiefs’ backyard, the Arrowhead Stadium. But this week, that is about to change.

QB Mahomes has dropped a bombshell as the Chiefs and the Dolphins prepare for one of the blockbuster games in the Wild Card round. Even after Hill’s departure, the two managed to stay friends. But for this week, there will be no friendly banter between the pair.

Patrick Mahomes will do his talking on the field

“I know he’ll be excited to come to Arrowhead”, said Mahomes at the pre-match presser about Hill. It has almost been two years since Hill left and he’d want to showcase his growth to the Chiefs Kingdom once again. Apart from that, Mahomes also dropped hints of his continued relationship with the 29-year-old WR.

The 2X Super Bowl winner said, “I talk to him once in a while”. But also focused that, the communication lines between the 2019 Super Bowl-winning duo, are not working this week.

“I haven’t heard from Tyreek this week”, said Mahomes signifying that ‘Cheetah’ is looking out for what’s best for the Dolphins. But the 28-year-old clarified his stance as well, saying, “But this week I won’t talk to him as much”. This will be the second time Mahomes and Hill will come face-to-face, but the prize is far greater than the last time.

The second meeting of the friends

Earlier this season for the week 9 matchup, the Chiefs and the Dolphins went head-to-head in Frankfurt, Germany. Mahomes displayed his class as the Chiefs won 21-14 with the QB getting 2 TDs. Meanwhile, Hill was largely shut out by the Chiefs’ defense.

However, that was just a regular season game, that too at a neutral venue. This time, it will be the fort of the Chiefs and the Dolphins will be looking to raise their flag. The prize is the deeper run in the playoffs, AFC championship, and Super Bowl glory.

This wild card fixture will be played on Saturday, 13th January. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM CST.
