According to the rules and regulations set by the NFL, the first overall pick is awarded at the end of the regular season. Last year, the Bears weren’t as adamant as they have been for the 2024 NFL Draft. The Bears traded their first overall pick last year to the Carolina Panthers. In return, they received wide receiver DJ Moore, the 9th overall pick in last year’s draft, a second-round pick for next year’s draft, and the first overall pick for this year’s draft. Hence the Bears have two picks in the first round this year.

There were rumors that the Bears might trade their first overall pick for another standout player, and then use their ninth overall pick. However, as per reports the Bears have shut that well down. Especially after trading QB Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers a week ago.

The Bears desperately need a QB and have set their eyes on Caleb Williams, a generational talent. Hence, the Commanders are likely to hear several knocks on their door. What could their decision be?
The Commanders have a commanding position
Since 1967, the first overall pick has been traded merely 13 times. While the second overall pick has been traded a total of 18 times. Hence, the teams have a better chance of getting the second overall pick from the Commanders at the NFL Draft.
