Are we seeing too much of “Mr. Pfizer” these days? Travis Kelce has garnered a lot of highlights on himself in the past couple of months. Seeing him in every other ad, hearing him talk about “bundling,” and not to mention his relationship with Taylor Swift, it’s safe to say that Travis Kelce may be “overexposed.”

Sometimes, people have an aversion toward something that they become too exposed to. The same may be the case with the Kansas City Chiefs T.E. However, veteran D.E. J.J. Watt has also been “overexposed” at some point in his life and completely relates with Travis Kelce. He talked to Pat McAfee about the pros and cons of fame and had some words of advice hidden in his anecdote.

He started with his own story and reminisced when he was fresh out of college and entered the NFL. Suddenly, getting rich and famous was too much for him. The opportunities didn’t stop coming in for him, and he would work in many commercials. It got saturated for him at some point, especially after the social media platforms like Twitter (now X) kicked in.

He advised the T.E. to “be himself and be authentic” because he might look back at history someday and realize that he was just being hard on himself and being his enemy. Adding to this, Kelce hasn’t played to his potential for the past couple of games, and hence, his being popular has become more of a thorn in his career.

These circumstances might make Kelce feel like he is not exactly a people’s choice. Watt suggested he take on this adversity and vulnerability by embracing himself.

“But yes, overexposure and putting yourself out there can certainly make yourself vulnerable. But in reality, nobody cares, man… And just, it all comes down to being natural, being authentic, being natural, being authentic, being real, being who you are. And sometimes it’s very hard to do. People love a success story, but then there comes a point where they love to see a crash,” said Watt.

Watt’s advice might save Kelce; however, he has more pressing concerns to focus on for now.

Travis Kelce is in a slump

We have been witnessing subpar performances from Travis Kelce for the last couple of games. In the last three games, he couldn’t cross more than 50 receiving yards. Also, he hasn’t scored a touchdown, neither rushing nor receiving in the last five games. He only has five touchdowns this season, whereas by the end of the previous season, he had 12 T.D.s.

Not to mention the fact that he sustained a neck injury and is listed as questionable right now. The T.E. remained limited in practice Wednesday. The Chiefs have lost three of their last five games. Though they are in the playoffs right now, the team has a lot of work ahead of them. Kelce’s recent outrage in the game against the Raiders has also become a center of controversy these days.

One take at a time

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
