Just last month, fans thought Odell Beckham Jr. was done with football. A viral report spread the word of his retirement. But OBJ wasted no time shutting it down. “Not done yet… thanks for hr concerns and have a blessed day,” he wrote on X. Now, the veteran wideout has opened up again about where he really stands on the retirement talk.

When Beckham appeared on Complex News, the topic of retirement came right back. He was asked directly, “When that eventual time comes of you putting down the cleats?” His response started with humor. “Yeah, I think I was about to start a Chippendales in Vegas and just get to,” Beckham laughed. But then he got serious.

“No, I just there’s so many things, you know, my son is going to take up the majority of whatever, because I can’t see like when when when life was hard or dark or whatever, you know, we all go through life like my son was my life, like he was he was everything. He is everything to me. You know, my family is everything to me.” That shift shows how much family now drives his decisions.

Right now, OBJ is not retired, but he is also not signed. He’s a free agent waiting for the right spot to open up in 2025, and that might come fast. At 32, he has already played 10 NFL seasons. Everyone remembers the spark he brought to The Big Apple. His five superstar years with the Giants gave him 5,476 yards, 390 catches, and 44 touchdowns.

After New York, he made noise elsewhere, too. Beckham posted a 1,000-yard season with the Browns during his three years in Cleveland. Later, he suited up for the Rams, Ravens, and most recently the Dolphins. In Miami, though, the production wasn’t the same. He played nine games, catching nine passes for 55 yards. It showed he is no longer the same player he once was, but still capable of making plays.

Still, Beckham’s focus isn’t stuck on the NFL alone. He is also building something fresh outside the game. And for that, he is sharing the stage with icons like Ronaldinho and Usain Bolt.

Can Odell Beckham Jr. still make a comeback in the NFL, or is his prime over?

Odell Beckham Jr. joins Baller League USA
The Baller League USA is bringing its street-style soccer to Miami with a twist fans haven’t seen before. The setup is simple: 12 teams, 12 weeks, and a six-a-side indoor format designed for chaos. But the real draw is who’s running the show. Ronaldinho, Usain Bolt, Odell Beckham Jr., and comedian Druski headline as managers. Streaming giants like Kai Cenat with AMP and xQc are also in, making it clear this is more than just soccer—it’s sports, celebrity, and internet culture all mashed together. And just when fans think they’ve got the game figured out, the final three minutes flip with roulette-style rules, from three-on-three play to double-value bombs from deep.
So far, seven squads are confirmed, but the official kickoff date is still under wraps. Still, momentum is building fast. Baller League has already blown up overseas, starting in Germany in 2024 under entrepreneur Felix Starck. His vision was bold—blend the world’s biggest sport with creator-driven hype—and it worked. After Germany, the UK joined the movement, pulling millions online and even packing London’s O2 Arena for a wild “final four” event.

2014: Odell Beckham Jr., No. 12 overall
And the names driving this thing only add fuel. In the UK, KSI gave the league credibility with his massive following. In the U.S., IShowSpeed is front and center, energizing younger fans who want action and spectacle. CEO Felix Starck summed it up best: “Small-sided soccer is the most-played game on the planet, and Baller League brings back that authentic, raw energy of the street. That’s why people love it.”
At the end of the day, this isn’t just another sports league. It’s a complete rebrand of how soccer can live in America. It’s a mix of celebrities, influencers, and authentic street culture lands, and Odell Beckham Jr. will be a big part of it.
