For the Green Bay Packers, the final score in Week 15 was the least of their worries. A single, non-contact play involving star defensive end Micah Parsons has cast a dark shadow over the remainder of their season.

He has reportedly suffered an ACL tear during the game. They are waiting on further testing to confirm the extent and check if he could play further in the season or not. But NFL insider Ian Rapoport claimed that the defensive superstar is out for the regular season and the postseason. This is a massive blow to their remaining games.

Here’s how the play went with 55 seconds remaining in the third quarter. On the 1st & 10 play at Packers 29, Micah Parsons evaded the defensive tackle Dante Barnett to tackle quarterback Bo Nix, who took 1-2 steps back while looking for a receiver. As he threw the ball, Parsons landed on his left leg awkwardly as his knee got locked. As he took the next step, he held his knee and fell in pain before going out.

After the next play, the Packers updated his status as questionable to return. Around 7:30 in the fourth quarter, they marked him out of the game. The Broncos were behind by 23-21 when he got injured, but scored a touchdown on the same drive to end the third quarter 27-23. In the end, they won the game as well, but the Packers have a bigger problem now.

Micah Parsons was having a great season with 12.5 sacks, third-most in the league. In 13 games, he recorded 39 tackles (18 solo) and one forced fumble. Even the head coach, Matt LaFleur, was worried about his player.

During his post-game conference, LaFleur couldn’t say much as he is also waiting on further medical evaluation to make a decision. However, he saw enough to claim that the injury was serious indeed.

“It doesn’t look good. I’ll leave it at that,” he said.

However, there are more injuries arising from the game. Wide receiver Christian Watson also suffered a chest injury. They immediately sent him to a local hospital for further tests. Right tackle Zach Tom also injured his knee and left the game early. LaFleur called it a “double whammy” before calling for his players to unite and rally together for further games.

“It’s obviously tough,” the Packers head coach said. “But no one is going to feel sorry for us. We need to find a way. Guys have to rally around each other.”

In seven games, Watson has the third-most receiving yards (452) among the receiver corps. He has scored five touchdowns in 25 receptions. The Packers have nine wins and stay in second place in the NFC North division. They are still in the playoff spot, but injuries mean they will have a challenging path ahead.
