The Green Bay Packers got more than a win. They saw their quarterback Jordan Love make franchise history. “Go Pack Go” got louder with every throw. It felt like Lambeau, not Acrisure. Love faced his old mentor, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and flat-out upstaged the legends, both past and present. Watching the game, Brett Favre noticed something that even Rodgers had failed to achieve when he was in green and gold.

Twenty straight completions in a single game. Favre’s salute to Love’s achievement said it all. He dropped a story on Instagram with a picture of Love, and added a short message.

“Congratulations to Jordan Love for his 20-straight completions in a row and the Packers on the big win last night!”

It was a feat only Brett Favre had managed to pull off with the Packers in 2007. Nobody else in Packers’ history, Aaron Rodgers included, had fired off twenty straight bombs in a game. And Love did it against Rodgers. And in doing so, Love and the Packers took something away from Rodgers as well.

Rodgers had a shot at his own slice of history. If he’d beaten the Packers, he would have joined just four other quarterbacks (including Favre) who have won against all 32 teams. Green Bay’s defense shut that down. Love shredded the Steelers for 360 yards and three touchdowns. The 35-25 win felt like closure, or maybe even payback. Fans were hugging, already swapping stories as they headed out.

And Love? He’s cooking right now. He’s got a three-game win-streak and a 5-1-1 record overall heading into Week 9. Rodgers and Favre are still ghosts in every snap. But this streak has left a mark. And when Favre gives you a social media shoutout, that’s just currency in Packers-lore.

The real buzz after the game wasn’t just about the numbers. It was Rodgers’ reaction that sealed the deal, long before Favre’s shoutout. This night had it all: records, rivalry, and respect.

Aaron Rodgers gives Jordan Love his due

After the final whistle blew, Rodgers and Love shared a hug and exchanged a few words. Love had requested a jersey swap soon after Rodgers joined the Steelers, but that exchange didn’t take place. Instead, as Love noted later:

“Just said good game, keep going for the rest of the season. I want him to stay healthy, and I’ve got a lot of love for him. Very fun to go against him. I told him I needed that jersey, and we’re gonna exchange them at a later time.”

Rodgers’ post-game moment was also full of veteran respect, and a lot of well-earned adjectives for Love.

“He played great, played fantastic. He’s had a really nice season. He’s been really efficient with the football. He’s opportunistic, though. I felt like he was very patient tonight. They took the run solutions. He took the checkdowns, moved in the pocket well. He played outstanding.”

Reports later noted that Rodgers did, in fact, sign his game-worn jersey when he was back in the locker room. The handoff between eras? We’ll still have to wait for that update. For now, Love has moved out of the shadow. Doing what Rodgers didn’t, getting praise from Favre, and earning Rodgers’ public approval. That’s a hat trick no one saw coming. Now, for the Week 9 clash between the Packers and the Carolina Panthers, we’ll have to see if Love can stretch the win streak to 4.
