The Green Bay Packers are playing their Week 10 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles with more bad news in their offense. Rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden entered Week 10 as “questionable”. NFL insider Tom Pelissero had reported earlier that Matthew Golden wasn’t expected to play against the Eagles. A few hours later, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed it – Jordan Love will have to make it work without Golden.

So, Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams will be available to play against the Eagles. WR Christian Watson, who returned recently from an ACL tear of his own, has also confirmed he’ll play Monday night. But even with that depth, Green Bay’s WR corps feels battered because Matthew Golden is now out.
The rookie WR injured his shoulder during last week’s 16-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He reportedly pushed hard to play this week, but head coach Matt LaFleur wasn’t convinced he was ready.
“It’s just one of those deals that he’s fighting to play,” HC Matt LaFleur said. “He’s gotta be able to handle everything that’s thrown at him. No setback, this is totally day-by-day.”

If Matthew Golden was that close to playing, could he return soon? Possibly. But his absence now creates a crisis in the WR corps in Green Bay. The rookie has quietly been one of Green Bay’s most consistent weapons this season. He’s caught 23 passes for 262 yards and added 45 rushing yards. What he hasn’t done yet is score a touchdown.
Nevertheless, QB Jordan Love will now have to manage the offense without Matthew Golden. But the Packers’ injury woes in the OL don’t stop with Golden.

Jordan Love’s OL forced to go into survival mode in Week 10
Packers’ tight end Tucker Kraft, one of Jordan Love’s favorite targets this season, is done for the year. He tore his ACL against the Panthers. Before the injury, Kraft had 32 catches for 489 yards and six touchdowns – production that’s not easy to replace. Losing both Kraft and Golden means Love is missing two of his top three receivers in total yards.
How much pressure does that put on the rest of the unit? WR Romeo Doubs will likely be the go-to guy again. He leads the team in receptions (34) and targets (52). He also trails only Ticker Kraft in yardage and touchdowns. So, Doubs’ chemistry with Love might be the Packers’ best hope for offensive stability.

Jordan Love has already called his offense inconsistent. And he’s right. The team has struggled to find rhythm, especially in key drives. Facing the Eagles, a team that knocked them out of playoff contention last year, won’t make things easier. Love threw 3 interceptions in that loss last year, so he’ll have plenty to prove this time around.
Can Jordan Love find redemption on Monday night? That’s the big question. Love has to play without two major weapons. So, he’ll need to adjust his game plans. We can expect him to spread the ball around, lean more on Romeo Doubs to keep the offense alive. Ultimately, the Packers are battered, bruised, and desperate for a win. But sometimes, that’s exactly when a team surprises everyone.
