Patrick Mahomes and Co might have faced the most noticeable defeat of this season. The Chiefs lost to the Denver Broncos with a 15-point deficit, and it was not a fluke. But it might have been due to the flu that Patrick Mahomes contracted pre-game. Or maybe because Taylor Swift didn’t show up in the game against the Broncos. Or maybe it’s just sheer bad luck on the Chiefs’ part and Andy Reid just took it on himself.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, her absence from the game sparked some questions among the fans. Even Pat McAfee has his own theory regarding her absence from the game. And it might have to do something with Mahomes! Or maybe it’s just a wild theory from a fan’s POV.

Well, for the first time in his career, Patrick Mahomes lost to Russell Wilson and the Broncos. The flu that he contracted made it difficult for him to perform at his usual caliber and cost the Chiefs the game. He had arguably the worst flu of the season, and the cold Denver weather didn’t help his condition either. Pat McAfee thinks that Mahomes’ flu might have been the reason for Taylor Swift’s absence from the game.

Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift shook hands in the game and there are chances that Swift might have contracted the flu, or is already down with it. The flu is contagious, and Taylor wanted no part of it, per McAfee. He mentions how the ‘Broncos defense made Patrick Mahomes look not only sick, but bad at football,’. Maybe Taylor Swift IS the lucky charm for the Chiefs.

The dismal Chiefs’ performance

Despite having the flu, Patrick Mahomes put up above-average numbers in the Broncos game. Though he didn’t have any touchdowns, he passed for 241 yards with a 63.2% completion rate. Mahomes was sacked 3 times and was intercepted twice. The QB made 24 passes out of 38 attempts he made throughout the game. This game marks his lowest QBR for the season at 42.6.
