February is approaching and so are the Pro Bowl games! Kansas City Chiefs confirmed that 5 of their troops would be representing the team and taking on the Pro Bowl Challenges this year. Safe to say that we have Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce representing the Chiefs this time, among three others.

The team revealed further details on their X account and the fans couldn’t be more excited about this. The time for serious football will be over soon and before the countdown for the Super Bowl begins, some of the best players in the league will gather for a lighthearted skill showoff. The 2023 Pro Bowl is supposed to happen on 4 February and this time, the NFL is taking it back to Orlando!

This year, Kansas City’s representation dropped a bit as they only have 5 contestants from their team participating. Of course, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are the usual members. But apart from them, the DT Chris Jones will also be joining in along with the offensive lineman Creed Humphrey and guard Joe Thuney.

This year will mark Patrick Mahomes’ sixth time as a Pro Bowler and Travis Kelce’s ninth straight season in the row as a Pro Bowl inductee. Also, this is Chris Jones’ fifth Pro Bowl while Humphrey and Thuney will be appearing for the second time as Pro Bowlers. Last year, this list was a bit longer for the Chiefs as they had 7 players in the mix instead of 5.

The left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. and the Chiefs’ punter Tommy Townsend were the ones involved in the Pro Bowl race last season alongside the expected names. The voting system seems to be a bit subjective at this point because a consensus in the comments suggests that the fans wanted to see L’Jarius Sneed and Trent McDuffie on the list as well, who currently appear to be missing out. Despite having just 5 players as a part of the Pro Bowl, the Chiefs look to have a good chance of doing well due to the absence of players from multiple teams.

The Chiefs still find themselves in a favorable position this year at the Pro Bowl because teams like the New England Patriots, the Green Bay Packers, the Washington Commanders, and the Carolina Panthers failed to register even a single player for the competitions. Having experienced names like Mahomes, Kelce, and Jones on the list will surely work in their favor as well.

On one hand, after facing a tough season, the exclusion of the Patriots, Commanders, and Panthers seems reasonable during this year. On the other hand, the shocking part comes in with the Packers not having a representation at the events, despite displaying fairly good performance. Standing at 8-8 currently while still in search of a playoff spot, the Pro Bowl could have been the much-needed break from serious football for the Packers.

One take at a time

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
