Harrison Butker is not the only athlete giving the Kansas City Chiefs a hard time right now. After a stunning win with the team at the Super Bowl this year, the team’s wide receiver, Rashee Rice, ran into a few problems during the offseason. The 24-year-old finds himself constantly in the headlines and dealing with some legal troubles. However, it seems the team’s beloved quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave him some advice.

In a recent media conference after the OTAs, the 28-year-old faced questions about whether he had contacted his teammate, Rice. Without missing a beat, the quarterback stated, “It’s not just me. I think we’re just trying to do whatever we can to teach him how to learn from his mistakes.” Mahomes also acknowledged that it was “a big mistake” but emphasized that the 24-year-old had to “make sure it doesn’t happen again and try whatever you can to be the best person you can be in society.”

Mahomes’ words of wisdom came after Rice and his friend caused a 6-car accident in March. The two had allegedly been racing each other on a Dallas highway when things went wrong. After fleeing the scene, authorities charged the 24-year-old with 8 charges and he even faces a $10 million civil suit from those involved in the car crash.
The Chiefs’ best receiver may have been caught in the midst of the legal battles. However, he and the 28-year-old still managed to get in a few workouts together in Texas after the crash. His legal troubles kept Rice out of the public eye for well over a month. However, in a twist of fate, the 24-year-old ended up making his way to the team’s OTAs.

Rashee Rice’s appearance at the Chiefs’ OTAs
Just a day ago, Rashee Rice made his first public appearance since the March car accident. The NFL athlete joined his teammates on the field and got in his first practice session in months. His outing came shortly after his luck seemed to change when an assault charge against the wide receiver was dropped. However, his good-luck streak may not last very long.

The Dallas police confirmed on Tuesday that they had signed an affidavit of non-prosecution. But they revealed that they had not finished investigating the incident in a nightclub earlier this year. Apart from that, the 24-year-old will also be facing a suspension from the NFL following the car crash. However, there has been no word on what could happen to the wide receiver yet.

With Rice proving to be the Chiefs best wide receiver in the last year, a suspension could end up costing the team a championship. However, we cannot say how this could play out until the court reaches a verdict and the NFL announces their decision.
