Patrick Mahomes finally responds

While attending the press conference before the Chiefs depart to Nevada. The 28-year-old had to respond to the media questions about his father getting arrested. And the 6-time Pro Bowler did not shy away.

The QB stated at the beginning, he did not want to get into it. But with questions being fired at him, he said, “He’s doing good for whatever the situation is”. But the media did press on further, wanting to know his feelings on the matter.

“It’s a family matter, so I’ll just keep it to the family”, responded Mahomes firmly. “I’ll just leave it at that”, said Mahomes to the press. But the concern from the media members and fans is understandable. Since this isn’t the first time Patrick’s father has been arrested for DWI.

This seems like a pattern for Mahomes Sr.

Pat Mahomes Sr. has been arrested on a DWI charge on six different occasions. The first time was in 2012 and once again in the same year as well. Then twice more in 2018, once in 2019, and now in 2024. He has only been convicted once, in 2018.

This time around, Mahomes Sr. was released on a $10K bail. But following his guilty plea to one of the DWI charges in 2018, he did have to serve jail time. The punishment was for 40 days, which he served on the weekends from February 2019 to February 2020.
