The ending to the Kansas City Chiefs-Houston Texans matchup couldn’t have been more dramatic. Mahomes humiliated Tim Settle Jr., who boldly challenged him ahead of the game. CJ Stroud lost his best friend and top weapon to a season-ending injury. The QB also sympathized with Tank Dell and the Texans, but his woes didn’t stop there.

Mahomes relationship with baseball is pretty well documented, and it was no surprise that the 3x Super Bowl winner weighed in on the tragic passing of Rickey Henderson, the MLB legend. Right after thanking God for tonight’s 27-19 win over Houston, the Chiefs QB addressed the tragic passing of Henderson.

Patrick Mahomes gets heavy-hearted

“Rest in Peace! 🙏🏽🙏🏽,” wrote Mahomes as he shared MLBs post on 10x All-Star’s passing. Henderson’s impact on the league and his accolades are hard to jot down on paper, but being the 3x Slugger Award winner, and 2x World Series winner speaks volumes about his 25-season-long career.

Per the MLB’s post on X, “Nicknamed the ‘Man of Steal,’ Henderson owns the record for most career stolen bases (1,406) as well as the Modern Era (post-1900) record for most steals in a single season, with 130 in 1982. He led the American League in stolen bases in 12 separate seasons, and was MLB’s overall steals leader in six of those years.”

It’s so unfortunate that the 65-year-old died days before his birthday (Dec 25, 1958). The reported cause of death was pneumonia. Safe to say that Henderson’s death might have taken away the Christmas spirit from his family. Similarly, the fans are facing the effects of American League MVPs passing.
