The Kansas City Chiefs have made their intentions of achieving a three-peat this season clear, and preparations have begun with adding a new player to their roster. In an $11 million deal, wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has joined the Chiefs. The former Cardinals star is already getting to know his teammates better, especially while working out with the star quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes is leaving no stone unturned in welcoming the veteran receiver to the Chiefs’ Kingdom. Mahomes had previously expressed his excitement about having Browns as a part of the crew in an interview with ESPN and said that he looks forward to a “lot of throwing sessions in our future.” It seems that the first step of their comradery has already been taken as the quarterback shared pictures of him working out with Brown on his Instagram story.

Browns will be playing in sync with Mahomes, hoping to catch the three-time MVP’s throws. The first-round draft brings speed and “field-stretching abilities” to the Chiefs’ offense, as per Grant Gordon. While the Chiefs had a tight defense that helped secure their second Super Bowl victory, it was the offense that needed some finesse. With Brown now to extend support to Mahomes, the team might see another Tyreek Hill era in the wide receiver position.

The 25th pick of the 2019 Draft had his best career season with his draft team, Baltimore Ravens. After playing for three seasons, Brown was traded to Arizona, where he couldn’t give his best due to a fractured foot. Despite a mediocre run with the Cardinals, the receiver has 28 receiving touchdowns, an 11.6 average, and 3,644 receiving yards in his NFL career. While the star QB has already started making efforts to bond with Brown before the official start of the season, the Chiefs weren’t the only team interested in the wide receiver.

Brown hints at rejecting other better-paying offers for Mahomes’ Kansas City

In the one-year deal with the Chiefs, Brown is set to receive a base salary of $7 million and $ 4 million in incentives, as per SI. The WR had previously hinted that other franchises were showing interest in acquiring him where he could have gotten a better financial deal. But it was the Chiefs’s stellar record and the recent post-Super Bowl win energy that tilted his decision toward the Chiefs.

Moreover, the veteran had shared with his agent his inclination toward Kansas City beforehand. “I was really leaving it up to my agent,” Brown said, as per Arrowhead Report. “Kansas City was a place I told him I wanted to be if that was an opportunity. And it kind of just unfolded, I let him do his job, and God made it happen.” Brown further explained that he felt that he hadn’t had the chance to explore his full potential in the past, and Kansas City could provide him with that platform.
