Brittany Mahomes will land in Vegas with some bad news. The moment her phone gets reception, she will see a distressing headline: Her father-in-law has been arrested for DWI. This is sure to sully her spirits, but we’re hoping that they will figure it all out in time for the Super Bowl.

However, hundreds of miles away, a family member is in dire straits. Nope, it’s not Jackson Mahomes. This time it’s her father-in-law and baseball great Patrick Mahomes Sr.

Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s third run-in with the law

Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of KC Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes, is facing legal issues. He has been arrested for driving while intoxicated. The 53-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday night in Texas. He was released on a $10,000 surety bond Sunday.

This isn’t Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s first encounter with the law regarding driving while intoxicated. Records from Smith County reveal a previous arrest for a second DWI offense in 2018. Following a guilty plea, he served a 40-day jail sentence, completing it on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020.

The timing of this couldn’t be worse. Her daughter-in-law and son are hundreds of miles away. And it’s coming just a week ahead of the Super Bowl. We can only imagine the mental toll it will take on Mahomes. However, he dealt with it with calmness during the Jackson Mahomes trial. Will he be able to maintain his cool even now?
